I could spend the rest of my days reading about the old hunting clubs and camps.

Two of my favorite reads with tons of old pictures are "Pte. Moulee Shooting Club" by Jim and Barbara Marsh - a wonderful book that took over twenty years of research.

And "Deer Camp - Last Light in the Northeast Kingdom" by John M. Miller - really tugs at the heart of anyone who lives and remembers the deer camp life in the Northeast.

I have both of those books! There is another one on a Mississippi deer camp which is good.

The book on the left is a history of the Santee Gun Club which took me years to track down. The other great SC clubs are the Okeetee Club and Oakland Club.

Mills,

Can you give me the full citation (author, title, date)? I'd love to find a copy. My good friend managed the Santee Club for years before it was sold or given to SC. Many Thanks Jerry

Brannon Reath. Santee Club, A Legend. See if that helps. I think they have a print on demand version

Thanks Mills,
No luck on abebooks.com Could it be "Early History of Santee Club" by Henry Carter? I'll keep looking. The cover of your book is a painting by Richard Bishop, who hunted there and had a painting over the fireplace when I visited there......Jerry

It is a very rare book. It took me years to find a copy. Actually, decades

The Early History of Santee Club is good too and it is readily available via print on demand (if you can stand print on demand)

Thanks Again!

From the other side of the country, a good book by a Parker shooter in California is 75 Years with the Shotgun by C.T. Buckman.

Attachment 87174

Buck bought the Parker Bros. A1 Special 28-gauge two-barrel set from from W.O Rowley in Dallas, Texas for $3000, used it for several years and finally sold it on for $4500.

There are several good books on the clubs and gunning around the Chesapeake by C. John Sullivan Jr. I have his book on the Carroll's Island Ducking Club and his book on Baltimore made shotguns.
