Here's an AHE. The trigger guard on this gun is very very deep cut.

Very impressive gun Wayne.

Wayne and Josh, can those LeFever dogs be attributed to Joseph Loy?

Wayne Owens 01-09-2012 07:28 PM

I am not sure where Joseph Loy was employed in 1893, but that is the year the D grade Lefever was produced.

FWIW, I believe my 1894 Remington CEO was engraved by Joseph Loy. I showed it to Charlie Semmer and he thought the same. It does not have dogs, being a C, but does have the Celtic style corners that could be perceived as containing the initials J on one side L on the other. Some feel Mr. Loy did this to "sign" his work.

There may have been a period, or periods, when Loy was an independant contractor as his work is seen on a few different manufactures of guns.

Here is a dog very similiar to the Lefever dog shown in a previous post. Same engraver? This gun was made in 1890.
