Took a troubled youth that is my wife's step grandson fishing. He had a blast catching bluegills and a 13 in bass. I caught these 2, both 15 in bass on a 3 in Rapala, my favorite stream and pond bass lure. Sorry, pictures of grandson on my wife's phone.
Lots of fun on an ultralight.

Nice bass!
I’m going to my bass lake in Maine for the weekend.
I expect to catch some good bass too.

Probably smallmouth up there?

It’s a mix but I mostly target the largemouths… they’re bigger. My best at this lake was 6.5 pounds and it was about the size of my canoe paddle blade.
I fish mostly Texas-rigged soft plastics.

You caught them at night, Harold?
I sometimes fish for big largemouth at night. IMO it is the best time to catch the biggest bass in the lake/pond.
Pat Cullen was the big bass guru in Georgia. Read this for an enlightening article:

My best luck with bass, excluding just before a storm, has always been in the twilight hours. After full dark I’ll switch to a noisy floating plug.
I didn’t fish last evening - it was pouring.
This morning feels like fall is approaching with the cool swirling Northwest breeze.
