This is the 12 gauge D Lifter that was gifted to me by Austin Hogan when I went to his home to help him sort his guns, and the guns he was storing for the PGCA, when he was on his deathbed.

The Parker-made Laminated Steel barrels are going out today to be refinished.

The barrels shown are not those from Austin’s Lifter but I sincerely hope they come back looking like this other set that have been refinished by the guy I’m sending Austin’s barrels to.

Austin’s pic taken at the Southern in 2006.

Dean, I never met Austin, but have read your many accounts of him (and some articles he wrote in old copies of PP). For what it’s worth, I’m sure he’d be pleased to know you’re caring for his gun and to some degree, his legacy.

I also have one of Austin's favorite guns, a #3 frame 32" 12 gauge lifter gun. Austin referred to it as his "skeet gun". I first saw it before Austin owned it. I didn't buy it then, and was always sorry I missed it. Good news is that I have it now.

I got involved in PGCA right when he stopped appearing at events. Wish I had met him. I own one of his guns - an 0 grade lifter which I had cleaned up

And…

The wrist had been broken at least twice and a very poor repair(s) had been done. I have never shot it but last year sent it to our own Keavin Nelson.
This is what he found  That screw was part of the second repair well before Austin gifted the gun to me.

And he has properly repaired the break and rechecked it.

That's impressive! How is it supported internally?

Only Keavin can answer that. He told me but I don’t recall.

Would that be an $80 grade Parker?

It’s an L3 or Grade 3, or D grade. with Laminated Steel barrels Mike.

I love the simple dog engraving

The dog on the left is pointing a running rabbit.

Screw looks like a nine inch centipede crawling out of somebody's ear! Ugh!
