After the Quality Inn in Vestal unexpectedly closed last Spring, I don’t believe anyone has volunteered to find a new hotel for a group rate.

Their email said their property was sold to developers, and that they were moving over to the old Comfort Suites (now reopened as Spark).

They were supposed to be completely leveling the place.

I think that Spark was the old University Inn, just a stones throw from the Tru, which got shuttered by the health department. But they were still taking bookings through 3rd party sites for months after closure. People would show up to a padlocked door.

I was really surprised at the rates of rooms in vestal at the hotels. It is hars to find anything under $200. Last year and this year I did the airbnb route, which is slim pickings in that area. This year I was able to find a nice looking place only 15 mins from the shoot.

The prices have been getting stupid expensive. I managed to get $130/night at Spark for this year, but that was a couple months back.

Spark was not leveled, I watched it get renovated. Prices are stupid because of all the NYC students at Binghamton U. (23,000 of them) and their visiting families.

Andy, we are talking about the old quality inn. Is that buikding still sanding. On yhe corner of bunn hill and vestal parkway. .

Sorry Brian. Locals never stayed there or ate there, that's all I know. That was just torn down after Christmas it will be student housing. Further down the Parkway is a True and the Spark. There are several hotels here I don't pay much attention but if anyone wants me to stop by one I'll be happy to. Rates go up in May due to all the university crap going on.
