What are the necessary qualifications to become a lifetime pgca member? 20+ Parker’s in the vault? In all seriousness I’d like to know if it’s additional money to the forum or whatever. I’m pretty sure this is my shotgun group for life.

James,
Here is the text from the bylaws:
Article 1. MEMBERS
1.01 Classification of Members. The Corporation shall have four (4) Classes of Members:
(a) Life Members: Life Members are the five founding members in addition to
those individuals who have paid the one time membership fee as established by
the Board of Directors. All monies received thru Life Memberships will be
placed into the Life Membership Endowment Fund. There shall be no more
than 20% Life Members as a percentage of total membership. Should the
percentage exceed 20% for any reason, approvals of new applications for Life
Membership will be suspended until the total is below 20%.
I do not know the current % of the membership that are life members.
I think all you need to do is email and ask if there are any life memberships available.

Hi Jim:
I believe that the bylaws you have cited are not the most recent. The most recent was revised in 2023 as I recall and reflects a figure of 25% of the total membership as per below:
Life Members
Life Members are those individuals who have paid the one-time membership fee as established by the Board of Directors, and the five (5) founding members. There shall be no more than 25% Life Members as a percentage of total members. Should the percentage exceed 25% for any reason, approvals of new applications for Life Membership will be suspended until the total is below 25%.
Take care...

That is probably correct, I just copied and pasted from the website.

I went through the membership roster. If my figures are correct we have 1,358 current members. Out of that figure we have 322 members that are either DHE or A-1 life or Honorary. That's 23.8%. 338 would be 25% of the membership. There is room for more Life Members. That said, having a discussion regarding this with one of our esteemed BOD members, Life Membership was designed to be an avenue to service in the organization. That's why it is a requirement to be a LM to serve on the BOD and to be a voting member. How's that?

Mike, how many Invincible Life Members do we have who are still with us on this side of the grass?

That I don't know? If they have passed away they should be removed from the list as it will skew the numbers.

Well, that’s not completely accurate Mike.
I wonder who keeps these membership records. I thought Mary did a good job of it. Probably a simple oversight.

The Invincible Life Membership level was publicly awarded to me at the Annual Meeting Banquet upon my retirement as editor of Parker Pages and having served two terms on the BOD.
I’ll contact Tom and Mary…
Thanks Mike.

I contacted Tom Wooden, membership chairman, and Mary Bowes membership administrator, and they assured me they would make the necessary changes to the levels of Life Members listings to reflect my inclusion to the Invincible Life Members.
Thanks all and my Best to you.

I guess the next question is what are the differences between the Life Members?

None, other than the price of admission.

Well, there is the “Honorary Life” membership which is infrequently given to certain friends of the PGCA.
