How "rare" "Unusual" were original Parker Reproductions 28" barrels on a Repro gun be?? Instead of the usual 26" barrels? Thanks, Steve

They certainly weren’t common.
I had a 20 ga. Repro with 26” and 28” barrels. Not THAT’S uncommon, especially in view of the fact that both sets were Q-1 and Q-2.

Dean, it is my understanding that the only way to get 28 inch Q1/Q2 barrels was as part of the two-barrel set were both sets of barrels were choked Q1/Q2. I have a 20 ga with 28 inch Q1/Q2 barrels and it was originally a two-barrel set. The second set of barrels was not with the gun when i purchased it.

That's the most likely answer. Both the 26" and the 28" barrels were factory stamped Q1 and Q2. I am not aware of any other stand alone 28" 20 gauge barrels stamped Q1 & Q2.

Back when I was flipping repro's to generate funds for my gun habit, I found many two barrel sets but very few without being a two-barrel set, especially those with double triggers.

When I finally decided I wanted to find a non-two barrel set 28" 28ga for my keeper gun, it took me close to two years to find one the way I wanted it with straight grip, splinter, DT 28". I've now seen several of them over the years since then, but they don't come around very often.

28 gauge, 28", double trigger guns may be out there, but they aren't cheap. It isn't that they made so few, but they are mostly locked up in collections. 20 gauges in the same specs are hard to find also.

It was my understanding that the majority of 28" barrels in 20 and 28 gauge were choked modified and full. When I worked at Jaegers I ordered several 28" Q1 and Q2 barreled 28ga guns for customers. I was told at that time that there was one run of 50 guns choked that way. I know of no way to verify that number. The main point is that a few do exist.

I have one of them.

My opinion is still that 28 gauge 28" guns are hard to find because they are locked up in collections by owners that don't want to let them go. 20s in that configuration, scarce for the same reason.

In 1987 I special ordered my 20gauge 2 barrel set directly from Skeuse and asked for special choking of the 28" barrel of IC/Lt. Full, and it is duly marked on the flats in the same stamp font as original.

Tom, did you measure both sets of barrels for their constrictions in thousandths?

There are a few, a very few, Repros on Gunsinternational right now that are among the very scarce long barrel, double trigger guns that we covet. I ran through the selection today and I found some that I would buy.

I am looking at 3 NSFL repros now and all have 2 sets of 28 inch barrels.

James, when you get what you want, share what's left with us.

Interesting that the three NSFL Reproductions all have 2-28" barrels. All the ones I've seen before were 26" & 28". I have two NSFL sets, 20 & 28 gauge, serial #'s 20-37 & 28-37, and both sets are 26" & 28"

I actually made a mistake. 2 of the 3 are 28,28. the other is 28,26.

Strange, three months later, the 30" guy is stuck on 12 posts. I sure would like to hear more about his Repro.

Just like the original Parker guns.....never say never. Could you post a picture of the barrel flats of your gun IC/LT FULL Thanks SXS Ohio

Strange, three months later, the 30" guy is stuck on 12 posts. I sure would like to hear more about his Repro.

My Repro was special ordered by a friend and bought it from him. He is elderly now, has several more so I enquired if I could buy one. He gave me the pick of two, the other being a two barrel set Steel Shot Special. My friend had his own dealers license and spoke frequently with Jack Skuse. He eventually bought 6 to include two B grades. Anyway, not much more to tell. I shoot skeet with mine but am past hunting these days.

So a parker reproduction could be had with longer barrels than 28"?

Thanks, Steven

Dean Romig

By special order only.
You would be extremely hard-pressed to find one on the market today. Scarce as hen’s teeth.

Gentleman, I was inadvertently telling porkies. I just measured and my barrels are 28”, not 30”. Forgive me for the misinformation. I’m on facebook if you’d like to see pictures on messenger. My profile picture is me holding up a steelhead. Regards, John S.

Thought I found one on GB. 12 Gauge listed IC/Mod with 30" barrels. Just received confirmation from the seller that they are 28"

In one of the early Parker Reproduction brochures 12ga. Repros with 30" barrels were offered as a standard cataloged item. It was subsequently reported in this forum, although undocumented, that only 25 barrel sets were produced.

I added a set of 30” barrels to my SSS in the late ‘80s. I was informed that there was a set available. I sent the gun back to Reagent Chemical and had them fitted. I also traded the case for a 2 barrel case. They are M/F.
