New to the forum not Parkers
Hello,
To start I am the son of the late Robert Rambler. I know he frequented this forum. I am here to find information on the parts and pieces laying around the gun room. If possible move some of the stuff along to people who will use them. He would not want this stuff to hit the garbage bin. The second reason I am here is to find out where the shoots are. Dad had me spoiled, it only took a text and he knew where to go shoot. Matt and I are looking to continue to get out and shoot at different clubs with sxs. Shawn |
A warm Welcome Shawn and a heartfelt extension of my sympathy to you and your family.
Your Dad was a true gentleman and a friend to all in the PGCA and beyond. I think you’ll need to call on a Parker collector or someone well versed in several makes of classic sxs’s to go to where your Dad’s collection physically is. That’s the best advice I can think of to offer you. . |
Saddened to hear of the loss of your father. I met him at the first SXS shot I ever attended, the Eastern SXS shoot at Prospect Hall. He had his beloved pair of hunting poodles with him, one black and one white. We talked about them and my setters. Truly sorry to hear this. Condolences to your family.

Thank you guys for the kind words. We were very close and his passing has been rough. We talked almost daily. He left some big shoes to fill.

Shawn, I remember your mother and father introducing themselves to me at the Baltimore gun show, probably 16-18 years ago. I distinctly remember that there stood a real gentleman.
Seeing your post was made at 3:45 in the morning comes as no surprise. There went the 'normal' days and nights, when I lost my dad 40 years ago, and more recently when my son died a year ago. I was faced with wondering what in the world I was going to do with 'all this stuff'. Eventually, It dawned on me that there wasn't any rush, and as it turns out, most of what I thought I needed to sell, has been reabsorbed into my life. I often find myself holding onto something and wondering 'what was his plan for this?'. That often puts a smile on my face. |
I am so fortunate to be raised by such a man. He taught me everything he could from how to do things, to how to treat people.
You are right there is no rush to do anything with the stuff. And the gun stuff is the last priority. At the moment the focus is mother and getting the house the way she wants it and also finishing the projects he was in the middle of. Now everything feels different. I wondered for a few weeks if I even wanted to go shooting again. Mother has given me the gun he was shooting that fateful day. That was the motivation to get out again. |
