Wheeling

Anybody close to Wheeling to check out this probably rather rare Remington A-Grade with a straight grip and ORDNANCE steel barrels --

The brain trust at Cabela's can't even figure out what gauge it is and doesn't mention if it has ejectors.

They may have added after your post, but it currently reads that it is 16 gauge choked MOD/IMP.

Remington A-Grade

I called them when the gun came out several days ago and they said the bar that lifts the shells was solid. So, I took that to be an extractor gun and over priced at that. That gun will be on Mark-Down-Monday in about a year. Obviously, nobody at Cabela's ever did a "Days in Inventory" calculation and figured out what it costs them to sit on all this cash for months upon months upon months.

They are indeed a marvel - When I went to look at a gun in their "Gun Library" at our local NOVA store recently, the library doors were locked and a distraught-looking woman was seated in a round-backed chair just outside the entrance. The lights inside were dimmed and not a soul visible. I asked her if there was some sort of power emergency or other complication and she said, "No, my husband's in there trying to buy a gun. They're in the interior office (about the size of a gas station bathroom) and wouldn't let me in; said only the purchaser of the gun is allowed to handle and/or view the transaction." Their "reverse-engineered" customer relations approach is astounding!

A far cry from the days when I purchased a gun from Wes Dillon at the "flagship store" in Sidney on one of my cross country jaunts!!

Does this operation you describe at Cabela's reflect the recent round of new gun laws in Virginia? My buddy who has lived in Fairfax Station since the early 1980s just moved all his firearms to his waterfront house in Corpus Christi and became a Texas resident.

Yes; Spanberger's drafted and proposed elements of the new gun laws have created a firestorm of resentment from just about all factions of users; many dealers have outright stated they will not comply if the proposed bill(s) are passed unless they are modified, and there is a strong movement afoot to form a dealer united front against them. She has alienated a lot of former supporters!
