You can't know without the hang-tag. Some 12-gauge guns show 1 1/8-ounce --

Attachment 140815 Our U.S. ammunition manufacturers quit offering 1 1/4-ounce loads in the 2 5/8-inch 12-gauge shell between 1906 and 1907. From then on, you had to go to the 2 3/4-inch or longer shells for 1 1/4-ounce. |
Shot size varied significantly by the turn-of-the-century maker. Most U.S. doubles were patterned with Tatham's

Thank you all for your info. I was hoping for a universal standard used. Guess not.

Once the stock books we just acquired are photographed, the information on shells used to pattern Parker guns will be included in research letters. I will pick up the stock books at the Southern and it should take about 2 months to photograph them. Once that's done, the info will be in all new letters.
More information will be forth coming on any additional cost to add that new info to your letter/letters that were done in the past. |
The ammo we are shooting out of these vintage guns is in a different league than what guns of that era were patterned with. It's still fun to see those numbers though.

And in most cases, quite a bit tighter. (and better)
