Vhe 20ga shooter value

Hello looking at 20ga vhe shooter at Mid south guns he wants almost 4k for it just dont wanna get burnt.
Thanks Steven

Bob Jurewicz 05-02-2026 11:20 AM

Sounds high for just a "shooter" condition gun.
Bob Jurewicz

Daryl Corona 05-02-2026 11:21 AM

We need more than just 20ga VHE shooter. A description of the gun would help.

Seems high for a "shooter".
Check out Steven Hodges beautiful Trojan 20 in fantastic condition for less money. Also Bob Fabian just sold a 20 VH for less money.

I was advised that its above shooter grade by Bob Jurewicz i can email you pictures if you would like

edgarspencer 05-02-2026 06:51 PM

Ejectors generally increase the value, even though I don't care one way or the other. The trend seems to favor longer barrels, so 28" is a plus. When you consider that a 26" VH is selling above $3000, if the gun you're considering has any condition, $4000 is in the right neighborhood. Just my opinion.

Daryl Corona 05-02-2026 07:13 PM

Posting those pictures you have here will be a big help. It's easy.

Bob Jurewicz 05-02-2026 07:44 PM

Steve sent me some pictures by text on my phone if I knew how to put them from the phone to this forum I would do it, but I do not
So I’ll give you my take on what I saw the gun looks all original with a original looking Hawkins pad Good blue 20 to 30% case color great checkering, looks like about 70 to 80% original blue wood looks good with lots of original finish and good sharp checkering. It’s a gun that I would be proud to own.

I think I figured it out.

Bob Jurewicz 05-03-2026 08:49 AM

Steve,
What is the "shading" on the left barrel above the forend? I did not notice this on the small phone screen.

I want say thats probably my Grimmy finger prints sir I didnt wipe it back down after I fondled all over it like a teenager on prom night 🤦

edgarspencer 05-03-2026 08:54 AM

Nice gun. No one has tried to 'freshen' it up.

Andrew Sacco 05-03-2026 09:18 AM

He sent me some photos and I told him if he likes it and it fits him to buy it, the price didn't seem out of line. Also, I checked the book it all matches up with original length barrels, he did check that all serial numbers match. Sometimes that's all we can do. Looks like a nice Parker.

Daryl Corona 05-03-2026 10:02 AM

I sent you an email Mr. Gray.

My philosophy on smallbores in good condition is "you don't pay too much, you just paid it early". Smallbore shotguns in decent condition have always held their own in the market.

You never pay too much for a gun you love. If you can afford it, market value be damned. JMO

Steven Gray 05-03-2026 12:55 PM

Well if all works out it will check alot boxes for me.
1. First Parker
2. Sub gauge
3. Light weight
4. Ejectors
5. Fine American made shotgun.

Andrew Sacco 05-03-2026 01:17 PM

My advice is jump on it already if it’s checking those boxes. I’ve lost a lot of desired guns by overthinking or trying to penny pinch. Go in with a pocket full of dead presidents and make a deal.

I have as well but thats life. Im gonna talk to the owner monday to see if he has any wiggle room if not I'll probably still buy it but it never hurts to ask I guess.
Thanks, Steven.

November of 23 I got a call from a guy, hey I've got a Parker 20 for sale. I said I'm on my way!
28"VH PG & aftermarket beaver tail with good blue and probably 75% C.C. cost me $2500 and I couldn't pay him fast enough!
It lettered as 1914 with 28" ,PG. with i/c & mod.
I believe at some point it was turned into a skeet gun, left barrel shoots more like i/c and a Miller trigger was installed. The BT forearm is checkered in Flurs-de-le and done poorly!
Do I care? HECK NO!! It has become my go-to bird gun.

edgarspencer 05-08-2026 07:12 PM

Steve, at $4300, for an all original ejector 20 choked as it is,, you did very well in my book.

If we go by guns international prices or southern prices 🤦I didnt do bad the gun came from a 93 year old fellow that Phillip Futrell the owner of Mid South Guns in Wagram, NC who he bought 20 guns from. But as far as I know right now its a 1927 or 1928 gun with 28 inch tubes modified and full choked with 2 3/4 chambers all checked with a galazan chamber and choke gauge. Also 15" lop to a Hawkins pad but its too long on paper but doesn't feel like its that long shouldered.

William Machauer 05-09-2026 05:11 AM

Thanks Steve, you done good on yours as well!

Your welcome I wish we had good bird hunting here and didnt have to pay a outfitter or hunting lodge a small fortune but I understand everybody has to be paid and the money goes toward land up keep. Also sir what ammo are you using?

Thanks, Steven

Harold Lee Pickens 05-09-2026 09:15 AM

Steve, I shoot standard 2 3/4" shells thru my VH, VHE, PH 20 s. I also reload low pressure 3/4and 7/8 loads for higher volume shooting, like sporting clays

Why stop at a D grade?😂

Well if the price was right I guess anythings possible. But anything past a bh or bhe is all but past the realm of possibilities. Unless i was gifted one which is highly unlikely. But one of those California 20ga duck guns mentioned in Ed Muderlak's "Old reliable" would definitely be cool. But through this forum I did talk to the current care taker of the bhe on the cover which was really cool.

Thanks, Steven

I shoot reloads. I use Herco, 20/28 powder and 3/4 oz of shot.
On occasion I will shoot Federal Top Gun factory ammo.
During covid I scored a skeet shooters estate sale, 9k primers, multiple 4 pounders of powders, wads, 2 50gal drums of AA 12 & 20 ga once fired hulls, shot and MEC Grabbers in 410,28,20,12 and charge bars & bushings for 500 bucks!

Still an awesome deal none the less depending on which mec reloaders thats easily $3500 all by its own. Not including the drum of powder or the charge bars that arent cheap them selves.

William Machauer 05-09-2026 04:48 PM

All the machines are very experienced Grabbers, I had to do some parts changing and some adjustments but yes the whole deal was a bargain!
