8g Trophy at The Southern

Once again, PGCA is sponsoring the 8g Field Event and Rick Hemingway is sponsoring the 8g 5-Stand. Rock Mountain is providing the trophy for the Parker 8g Combined. To be eligible to win you must sign up and shoot a Parker 8g in both the 5-Stand and Field events. The high combined score will win the coveted trophy. The sign up sheet will be in the Smith-Parker tent on the Parker side. It’s almost time to play!!

I’ve not only loaded a buttload of shells, but I also tested them in my chambers and the action closes on all of them.

Trust me, there are some more 8 gauge guys checking shells in chambers before the Big Dance this year :)

Please bring your pump pliers just in case Jimmy:cool:

Speaking of 8 gauges, received a call from Charlie Brooks this afternoon, the Mighty 8’s will be traveling to Carlisle on March 23 to make some noise.

Here it is in all its glory!

Randy G Roberts 04-15-2026 08:11 PM

Very nice indeed. Might we see some of these on the table at The Rock in July? Not that you don't have wonderful bling mind you, but a little variety never hurt anything.

Mike Koneski 04-16-2026 11:31 AM

There will be a combined HOA trophy like that for the 8g. Not Parker specific so a lesser gun like a Smith or Eurotrash would have a remote chance of winning it.

Mike Koneski 04-18-2026 06:25 PM

Please see the new thread regarding the rules for the Parker 8g Combined Event at the Southern.

Hear that Dan? Your Purdey is now “Eurotrash”. I can only imagine what horrors my 36” Monk will be called. Go Team Eurotrash!

I’m just looking forward to seeing all of the smiling faces of our Parker, etal brethren Ed. Along, of course, with the beautiful guns from “the Men’s department”. Safe travels my friend. Looks like it’s going to be hot.

Those are not “now” Eurotrash, they’ve always been Eurotrash!! BWAHAHAHAHA. As the saying goes, “You dance with who you brought.” Time to shoot.

The Parker Combined 8g trophy was won by Mike Smith. Mike and I were tied. He shot a 49 on the field event and a 25 on the 5-Stand. I shot a 47 in the field event and 27 in the 5-Stand. First tiebreaker was high score on the field event and Mike won out! Congrats to “Smith Shady”!

Stan Hoover 04-26-2026 02:55 PM

Nice shooting Mike Mike :)

Daryl Corona 04-26-2026 03:32 PM

That's my boy. Nice shooting to both of you.

Ed Blake 04-26-2026 05:01 PM

Great shooting Mike, both of you. The 8 gauge event was a blast. Were there 12 shooters?

Here’s the story

CraigThompson 04-27-2026 08:27 PM

Anyone happen to get all the 8 gauge five stand scores ? I’d like to see them if possible .

Randy G Roberts 04-27-2026 08:38 PM

Congrats to Mike Smith. I was able to watch a good deal of this event which was quite entertaining, you boys can handle those big guns. It's really building momentum, hope it keeps growing. Great job 👍👏👏

Ed, there were 14 8g shooters in the 5-Stand event. As you witnessed, we all shot at 3:00 Friday.

If you're asking about this event, it was held in conjunction with the Spring Southern at Deep River, NC. I doubt there would be anywhere near 14 8g shooters that would head into Massachusetts to shoot an event.
