Gunsmith for Parker double triggers

I would like to get the triggers on a Parker O frame DHE sixteen I have set to 3-1/2 pounds and 4 pounds. I had it into Turnbull (several years ago) and that was lower than their shop standards allow I was told. I took it hunting yesterday and definitley want the lighter pulls.

Who would ya'll recommend?

Bragging now but it is such a nice shooter. It weighs 6-2 with 28" barrels. It is very lively and easy to carry. It has plenty of scratches, dings, and dents so that I don't mind taking it hunting.

Mike, , I have three 16 ga's , two C's and a P, but all are 1 frame guns 28" weighing from 6/10 to 6/12. I shot Larry Frey's little 26" DHE 16ga 0 frame and found it to be a very pleasant gun to carry. Congratulations on having a nice Parker.

You might invest in a high quality trigger pull gauge so you can approach these gunsmiths with an accurate assessment of the present pull weights.

My shooting student Joe Wood has one and we checked with his.

It has been awhile but I think the Turnbull smith told me 5-1/2 pounds was as low as they would go.

Mike, did I meet you at the spring 09 Tulsa show when you were with Joe Wood at Rip Watson's table? I sold Joe a 16ga GH damascus.

No Bruce, but I watched Joe take several Bobwhite with that gun yesterday. He couldn't miss with it. It was really irritating as he is a big blowhard on those rare days he can hit something. I will never forgive you.

Very nice gun by the way. That same show Joe lucked into a 16 gauge Daly Lindner Diamond Grade. I wasn't at that show but maybe I will run into you this coming Spring as I intend be there.

Well he did say that he was teaching a fellow out in Amarillo how to shoot. The great thing about Texas is loads of quail and a season until the end of Feb. We closed the season hunting out of Wheeler in the sand hills a few years ago. Great country and it ate dogs for breakfast.

The quail population varies from year to year. I think this season will be above average. I run four Brittanys and rotate them. One went into a heat exhaustion seizure yesterday before lunch. He is fine today. If you hunt up and down a creek the dogs do a lot better but if no birds are there it defeats the purpose.

And I am teaching Joe how to shoot. He turns into a big blowhard when he gets off somewhere where nobody knows him.

Bruce, that is a nice one frame 16. But it ain't "cheap" anymore. Time I had it put back on face, had two new screws made for the floorplate, opened the right choke, honed the bores and had the action cleaned it ended up pretty darned expensive. At 6 pounds 12 ounces it ain't a lightweight but it does balance better than any Parker I own (which is way too many). Seems I'm never able to buy a gun that satisfies me right out of the box! David Yale did all the work for me and he performed to perfection, as usual.

Bird crop down here seems to be mixed. Some areas are poor to worse but we've been hunting near McLean, east of Amarillo, and the population is very good. Spring rains were spotty so that's the way the birds are. We're trying to be very gentle on them since we have a four month season and that's not hard to do the way Mike has been shooting. Gives a new meaning to "conservation".
