Default BoWoop 2026

AHFCA BO-WHOOP and W C LETTERMAN COMPETITIONS FOR 2026

Both events are shotgun competitions sponsored by the A H Fox Collectors Association Inc., and held in conjunction with the Northeast Side by Side event at Hidden Hollow Sporting Clays, Friendsville PA. Our 2026 shooting dates are June 4th,5th and 6th.

Our Bo-Whoop competition is aptly named for Nash Buckingham's HE Grade Super-Fox "Bo-Whoop” that to this day is recognized as the most legendary, long-range side-by-side shotgun in existence.

The William C Letterman Cup is a competition limited to vintage 12 gauge break open single-barrel trap (SBT) shotguns. William C Letterman was a noted Trap shooter who won the 1923 Pennsylvania Amateur Trapshooting Championship using a newly introduced Fox single-barrel trap shotgun - establishing a new record of 198 ex 200, and with a straight run of 168 birds.

SPECIFICS FOR THE BO-WHOOP LONG RANGE SHOOT:
• ANY make Side by Side shotgun may be used (Fox, Parker, LC Smith, Lefever, Winchester, Ithaca, RBL, Stevens, English guns, etc.)
• 10 gauge guns may be used – 1-1/4 ounce max shot charge for any gauge
• Shoot for score as many times as you want to. Only your highest score will be used.
• Practice shooting available at reduced cost
• Bo-Whoop Trophy awarded for highest score shot with an A H Fox designed shotgun
• Payouts: $200/1st place, $100/2nd place and $50/3rd place scores. Ties decided by long run from the front.

SPECIFICS FOR THE WILLIAM C LETTERMAN CUP:
• ANY VINTAGE (pre-1960) break open single-barrel trap (SBT) shotgun may be used. Anything newer than 1960 must be approved in advance by a Fox Collector rep. NO pump action or semi-auto shotguns no matter when the gun was made.
• Shoot for score as many times as you want to
• Practice shooting available at reduced cost
• Payouts: $100/1st place, $50/2nd place and $25/3rd place. Ties decided by long run from the front.

PLEASE NOTE: SHOOTING WILL BEGIN AT NOON ON THURSDAY, 9:00 ON FRIDAY & SATURDAY. QUALIFICATIONS WILL END AT 1:00 PM ON SATURDAY. THE SHOOT OFF WILL COMMENCE AT 2:00, SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT THE BW/WCL EVENT STAND. WE WILL START PROMPTLY AT 2:00, PLEASE BE ON TIME!! THANK YOU.

GENERAL INFO & SHOOTING GUIDELINES:
1. Competition is open to anyone. You don’t have to be a member of the A H Fox Collectors Association. Shooting signups will take place at the Northeast Side X Side event. No pre-entry is necessary.

2. The target presentations will be appropriate for tightly choked guns. Target menus will be prominently posted at each shooting butt.

3. Largest shot size allowed is 7-1/2 shot. Maximum shot charge for the Bo-Whoop Long Range Shoot is 1-1/4 ounces, and maximum is 1-1/8 ounce for the William C Letterman Cup. The AHFCA reserves the right to inspect all cartridges used to verify shot size and charge weight. Any shooter found in variance for score shooting will be disqualified.

4. SCORE SHOOTERS: Each entry fee of $20.00 entitles the competitor to shoot 10 cartridges for score. The Bo-Whoop Long Range menu will be five SIMULTANEOUS pairs of targets (also known as “true pairs”) = 10 targets. The William C Letterman Cup menu will be five pairs of singles “on call” = 10 targets. Again, for 2026 the presentations will be mixed due to the availability of three traps. Competitors may enter more than once. Shooting for score starts on Thursday, June 6, and ends promptly on Saturday, June 8, at 1:00pm.

5. PRACTICE SHOOTERS: Practice shooting (reduced cost) is encouraged. The menu for practice shooting will be the same respectively, as for the Bo-Whoop Long Range Shoot and for the William C Letterman Cup. Entry fee for practice shooting is $10.00 per round. Please note that Practice scores are not eligible for Purse payouts.

6. All “for score” shooting will be witnessed by a Director or designee of the A. H. Fox Collectors Association Inc., and the shooter’s score will be recorded on our official event scorecards. Targets will be judged as “broken” or “dead” in the order shot, as per NSCA rules – minimum of a visible chip – dust does not count as a visible chip. For the Bo-Whoop, one shot may be fired at each target of the pair, or both shots at one of the targets. Nothing is established if one of the two simo targets is damaged coming off the trap – the pair will be repeated. The ruling “broken/lost” by the A. H. Fox Collector Association official is FINAL. PLEASE NOTE: There will be ONLY ONE release of show targets per shooter.

7. Our Bo-Whoop Trophy recognizes Excellence in Long Range Shooting. Trophy will be awarded to the shooter with the highest score that was shot with a genuine Ansley H Fox designed shotgun (Philadelphia Arms, Philly, Savage or CSMC). Note that Fox Model “B” or clones do not qualify.

8. NSCA Rules will be used insofar as possible for anything not specifically noted herein. The AHFCA reserves the right to make any changes necessary to these guidelines at any time due to unanticipated circumstances or field condition.

Default BirWhoop 2026

Back by popular demand for you 8ga. junkies.

Bring your 8ga artillery to the BoWhoop field and have at it.
Shooting will be Thurs, Fri and Sat, June 4th, 5th and 6th during the regular shooting hours of the BoWhoop.

Targets will be different than the other Whoop events in that due to the difficulty of getting those cannons moving they will be 10 targets thrown as a report pair at a longer range than the BoWhoop.
Price will be the same: $20. The winner walks away with bragging rights.
Rules and conditions subject to change just because I might need to.

Default Fox/LeFever Challenge

Allow me to stress this point. If you shoot any qualifying rounds for this challenge event PLEASE make yourself available to shoot this event on Saturday the 6th. You don't have to shoot a top score to make the team.

1) Competition is open to members in good standing of the AHFCA or LACA as of May 1st, 2026. Updated rosters will be on hand to verify current membership status. Dual members of AHFCA and LACA must choose ONE Association to represent at time of registration. Anyone attempting to shoot for both Associations will be disqualified.

2) Shooters must use a shotgun promoted by the organization they choose to represent. Those shooting A.H. Fox guns and representing the AHFCA are limited to Fox guns manufactured in Philadelphia, PA, Utica, NY and New Britain, CT (CSMC Fox models). Those shooting LeFever guns: Legitimate LeFevers are those guns made by Dan LeFever or one of his companies (LeFever Arms Co. after he left.). This includes Ithaca made LeFever guns with side plates but excludes Ithaca made LeFever Nitro Specials and their derivatives.

3) The qualification round will be shot on the 5 stand. You must get a card from Harold in the office and mark it either Fox or Lefever. After you have shot your card will remain at the 5 stand. You must tell the trapper that you are shooting for the challenge and he/she will retain the card to be picked up by by me or one of my designates. There will be a marked receptacle at the 5 stand to deposit your cards. For qualification rounds you may shoot a pre-mounted gun but this year we will be requiring that in the challenge event you must shoot a LOW GUN. The gun must be completely dismounted with the butt no higher than ones elbow, movement only upon visual presentation of the bird. Warning the first offense, loss of a bird on the second and DQ on the third.

4) Qualification round(s) may be shot all day on Thursday June 4th and Friday, June 5th and up to noon on Sat. June 6th. Completed scorecard MUST BE DEPOSITED IN THE MARKED RECEPTACLE AT THE 5 STAND no later than noon on Saturday, NO EXCEPTIONS. A blackboard in place there will rank the lead qualifiers and will be updated as scores are tallied throughout the day.

5) The top THREE scoring shooters for each manufacturer will be shooter #1 and 2 AND 3 for the respective teams. The remaining 2 shooters for each team will be chosen by random draw from the scorecards deposited at the 5 stand.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ATTEMPT TO QUALIFY FOR THIS EVENT, PLEASE BE PRESENT AT THE BoWhoop SET-UP BETWEEN 1-1:30 TO SEE IF YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN. YOUR NAME WILL BE CALLED ONCE AND WE WILL NOT RUN THE PROPERTY LOOKING FOR YOU.

6) The Fox–LeFever Challenge round will be conducted on Hidden Hollow’s 5-Stand field on Saturday, June 6th @ 2:00. A flip of the coin will decide the first team to shoot.

7) A total of 125 targets will be thrown for each team of 5 gunners. High cumulative score will decide the 2026 winning team. The cumulative score for each team will be calculated as follows: The sum of scores recorded by the Hidden Hollow scorer + the official LeFever scorer + the official Fox scorer. That sum will be divided by three (3) and rounded to the second decimal place. (Each scorer will use a hand operated mechanical counter.) Once again please note the low gun requirement in paragraph #3.

8 ) In the event of a trap malfunction during a team’s attempt at the Challenge targets, the Hidden Hollow official will void that team’s score and a new round of 125 targets will be shot.

9) The wearing of Eye and Ear protection is required of all competitors.

10) All Hidden Hollow/NSCA rules will apply for ammunition and maximum allowed shot size.

11) All shooters who qualify for the Challenge Team will receive an official Fox/LeFever
Hat to commemorate this epic contest.

11. All shooters must have fun, be safe and conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner becoming of these two, fine organizations!

Owning a Fox is not a spectator sport.
