IMHO if BPI tweaked their wad by making the shot cup big enough to hold 11/4 to 11/2 ounces of shot a good bit of the leading would go away . But bear in mind the bores on a good many of these cannons are pitted a bit so that contributes to the problem . Of the ones I had I only think one of them had any wear close to a mirror bore and I’m not sure that one hadn’t been professionally polished before it came to me . It might be useful to try a Mylar wrap seated in the shot cup and high enough to cover the shot column as well as putting the spacers beneath the wad . BPI makes a 10 gauge gas seal that I’ve messed with a bit , it would be Intresting if they made the same seal to fit an 8 gauge hull putting it over the powder followed by whatever displacement spacers you need then the BPI wad and the Mylar wrap around the shot .
