Maybe the squirrel is blind?
I would have thought so, too. We also have a Cooper’s Hawk that patrols the neighborhood that frequently sets up in the Black Spruce that’s behind the Owl or in one of the Oak trees just off camera. Whenever the hawk shows up every bird, squirrel or chipmunk disappears; 10 minutes later they’re all back.
