Remington repair date codes will also have a 3 which means returned for service.

Yup, it's a manufacturing date code. "Repair code" is kind of misleading the way we use it.

my skeet VHE is a 100 #'s higher than pete's gun with BE stamped along side lug = to jan. 1936 , scott
