I believe that the repair was done in Japan, before my father acquired the gun. It has been there ever since I can remember; and while not very pretty, is actually sturdy and a tight fit. To me it is part of its history, and I can't imagine the gun without it.
I did contact Bill Schwarz, and he is going to go through the mechanics of the gun so I can feel safe shooting it again on a regular basis again.
