Parker problem?

Hi guys

I have a 10 gauge Parker which I got last summer, I have only been out with it once when i noticed that when it comes to reloading the gun I push the top lever over to drop the barrels,the barrel open ok but the top lever goes back to the central position. I then have to push the lever to the open positoin to close the barrels. Is this normal for a parker.

my other guns the top lever stays over until the barrels are put back to the firing position.

No not normal, somebody will know. I'm thinking about taking my 10 apart but i've been told getting the safty back can be kind of a trick. I think I could figure out what is wroung with it because you can here something inside moving. Lawerance said its a pin and when it gets worse i won't be able to get the barrles off suppose i'll let him fix it. would like to see how things are inside a hammerless gun someday. good day ch

Steve, It sounds like the trip in the frame is sticking. Maybe time for a good internal cleaning.

Or missing completely! Steve, take the barrels off and look straight down the breach face into the well of the receiver. You should see a little metal piece down at the bottom. When the receiver is taken apart for cleaning or repair, this trip can easily fall out without being noticed. The gun will work just fine without it but the lever will not stay to the right when opened.

It could be that the spring that causes the trip to engage the top lever is missing.

Hi Guys thanks for your replys I have had the gun apart and found the spring is missing from the trip. Thanks Carl

Part No 20, Trip, spring and pin on the exploded diagraim.

I need to find a replacement spring any one know where I might be able to obtain one.

Steve, they are just a common coil spring, Brownells sells an assortment package of springs, just cut it short enough. have you looked inside the recess on the trip, the original may be bound up inside it.

It looks to me from your pictures that your top level spring IS NOT MISSING. Your gun has a flat V spring to operate the top lever not a coil spring which appears on later made guns. Iam sure others with more knowledge than me will either back me or blast me!

Buddy his lever returns to center when his gun is open... instead of staying to the right until gun is closed.
