I would not mind owning a big Ithaca 10 gabut have never committed on one...I like reading about them first 10 gauges they were almost legends in there time...I should have said they were legends in there time... 10 gauges shooting 8 ga loads....now you have lots of 12 ga s shooting 8 ga loads....2 1/4 to 2 1/2 ounces of shot...rough on the shoulder for sure...the heavest load back in the heh day of the 8 ga was a 7 dram of black powder and 2 1/4 ounce of lead shot....this was a factory load...I guess some reloaders may have loaded some heaver loads....I have shot some 3 ounce loads in the 8 ga and the 10 ga but they were my own reloads.... Charlie....

I owned a Field Grade Magnum-10 from 1985 to 2001 and never hunted with it, or even fired a 3 1/2 inch Magnum shell with it. Bought it at a little shop along the coast of Maine. Sold it to the Hartmann brothers. Saw it one final time at a Vintage Cup at Orvis Sandanona where it was in Steve Lamboy's Ithaca Classic Doubles tent.

The field grades were the ones I had looked at , I would like the option to use 3.5" shells but also the 2 7/8" loads would be pleasant to shoot in one of the heavy magnum doubles .

I really need to getting into reloading for the 10 gauge but dont really have the space for it .

I’ve half heartedly been looking for an Ithaca NID grade 2 10 MAG to go with my NID grade 2 10 super . Missed one on GB about three years ago . Dunno if I need or have a use for one , but it sure is nice to have options

You could probably talk them down to $7499
I dont really look much at other gauges but it seems with 10 gauge doubles the asking prices can have a extreme spread from seller to seller for similar guns.

Ive just picked out my next double well it came down to two potential guns .
If one sells before the other by next month ill probably get the one still available .

Ive shot some of the 3oz 10 gauge loads from nitro ammo , i think they were a lead/hevi shot duplex . I never patterned them but the guys who have were only getting like 170 hits or so in a 10" circle at 40 yards . Which is pretty bad for that amount of shot . in a 10lb gun I think it came out to about 110 ft lbs of recoil which is more than the 460 wby I had .

I want to try some of the boss bismuth 10 gauge loads , I think they are still in development . They were originally going with a 1 3/4oz load @ 1350 fps but now its a 2 1/16 oz load @ 1300 fps . From what ive read the guys using the boss bismuth really like the shot . They say its more spherical than traditional bismuth .
