I have the old style 8 ga crimper ...to me it does no better job than what your roll crimps look like here....charlie

You’re a lucky man to find one of the old crimpers, Charlie.
The black Remington hulls are much thicker than other gauges, and thicker than Winchester 8ga. hulls, which take a roll better.

I love how the iPhone thinks I want to say crumpets when I type crimper.

I wish one of the retailers had once fired Remingtons for sale I’d get a few hundred . I was thinking this roll crimping stuff was going to be a lot more trouble , but really it isn’t .

Did a couple roll crimped 8 gauge with 000000 buck and am able to get eight instead of six pellets along with buffer . Now all I need to do is see what the pattern board says . After that I also loaded some .775” 730 grain punkin balls . First two I didn’t get quite tight enough to suit me but the second two I added enough spacers so they were tight . Again targets will be the final test .

Two slugs at 25 from right barrel and two from the left barrel . I think if I put 3 to 5 layers of masking tape around them it might snug them up enough to be suitable for my parameters .

And a shot from each barrel at 25 yards with buffered 000000 buck . In these roll crimped I’m able to fit eight pellets instead of six in the folded crimp shells.
