I've used that in the past. They also used to have a neoprene comb raiser as well with different size inserts. Worked pretty well on those guns with 3" DAH.

Brian D. would know the answer to this, isn't the checkered part inside the skeleton butt on a repro. a separate piece of wood? If that's the case, wouldn't it be easy to put on a temporary butt pad?

Yes. It is glued on. And the butt is hollowed out under it.
A pad could be installed Over it, but then you still have the shallow inletting for the buttplates spur on the top side. And the shape of the heel would not be condusive to installing a pad. Not properly at least.

Got it, I was under the impression the checkered piece was captured by the butt plate and not glued on. Slip on pad it is.
