If you want a great read that highlights Teddy R. as police Commish- NYC 1890's era- read "The Alienist" written by Caleb Carr- also features some insights into the great DelMonicos restaurant, John Pierpont Morgan (aka- "Da Nose") and other Robber Barons of that era- Roosevelt was, like the later Elliot Ness- an "Untouchable" as to being bribed or influenced by corrupt politicans (are there any other kind?)--
