That may be true of LL Bean, but they still offer some decent quality stuff at decent prices, including traditionally-styled clothes that a guy my age isn't embarrassed to be seen in. As for Eddie Bauer, I bought a nice heavy vest (supposedly a reproduction of their vintage gear) that I absolutely love, and one of their lightweight microfiber vests that I like a lot too.

I guess that doesn't bother me as much as it does some folks; it's a world economy, like it or not. Would I rather it was made here? Sure. But I'll be the first to admit I know nothing about trade balances and stuff like that except that it matters. As long as the quality is there I'll live with it.

I agree, it allows us be able to purchase some higher quality products we might not be able to otherwise. My Parker Reproductions were made in Japan, they seem to be good quality. A current Parker Reproduction of the same quality but made in the US? I doubt I could afford it. SXS shotguns really cannot be built in the US anymore unless they're higher priced or boutique guns.

'It's a world economy' is a sound bite that's been fed to Americans (and Europeans) far too long. It's been fed by those who stand to benefit financially from the selling out of our country.

A specialty shotgun like a Parker is far, far different than a pair of socks. No one is suggesting we become a walled-off economy.

I just hope we are never at war with China. They won't bomb us, or attack us. They'll just let us starve to death slowly by refusing to ship us any spoons or forks.
