Ejectors and rib extensions.

Parker guns were sometimes special ordered without rib extensions. This seemz to be, more often than not, seen on competitive target guns.
The other day another thread about early Trojans was discussing rib extensions and their functions. After some comments about the extensions not serving any real function, Dean mentioned about the extension serving as a guide and stop for the shell kickers on ejector guns.

That got me thinking... has anyone ever observed an example of the above said special ordered gun with no extension that was also fitted with ejectors?
I would be curious to see what the factory did to make this combination work. If they ever did it.

I haven't seen one or even heard of one but I would think Parker Bros. would certainly have informed anyone wanting such a gun that ejectors were out of the question.

We have seen other designs of ejector systems fitted to Parker guns made as extractor guns but they weren't fitted by Parker Bros. to the best of my knowledge.

The two graded guns and a trojan without the extention that I had, did not have ejectors.

Didn't we recently have a discussion about using the screw, like on extractor guns, to serve as an ejector stop on an ejector gun without the extension rib? I think such a gun could be fabricated if the owner wanted to cut off the extension rib on an ejector gun. It would be worth a shot on an ejector gun with a severely damaged doll's head.

I am not talking about fabricating something after the fact. I am talking about the possible existence of a factory original configuration.

That 2 barrel set 20ga C grade that Larry Frey had a few years ago had no dolls head, but I think the ejectors were odd, and not Meriden.

This is the only patented Parker Bros. ejector system I know of... and I've never seen any other design by PB.

... and it doesn't even illustrate the underside of the doll's head with the stop plate.

Brian, no ejector gun without doll's head on my watch. All of my "no extension" pigeon guns are extractor guns. Anyone have a ten or eight gauge gun with no extension? I have not seen one.

Well... I forgot that I know of one gun with no extension and ejectors. But that was a prototype Trojan built by Hayes in 1928. But that has a different ejector system in it anyway and would not count due to its prototype nature.

It is interesting Parker would not provide ejectors with no dolls head. Plenty of guns were built without some type of dolls head or 3rd bite and had ejectors. I wonder if there was any customer pushback at the time.
