Default Where to place the shield

I am restocking a VH 20 and the original stock had a 12” LOP. So the new stock has a 14 1/4” LOP. Where should I place the shield or where would the Parker factory have placed the shield. Thanks for your input.

Measuring 4 guns, 2 V grades, and 2 G grades, no two were the same and I'm certain none of the stocks have been cut. They varied between 3.5" and 3.75" to the end of the butt plate.

I have always believed the shield placement goes exactly halfway between the bottom of the grip cap and the toe of the butt.
