I’m finishing reassembling my grandson’s VH 20 after a good sonic cleaning. It has two triggers but when he was shooting it at Peace Dale back in March it doubled on him three times before he retired it to the cart and used one of mine for the remainder of the shoot.
There was a lot of crud in it even though it had gone to Orvis some 40 years ago for a complete restoration. Orvis obviously sent it out to DelGrego I believe.
Anyway, we’ll find out if the cleaning has cured the doubling this weekend in Vermont.

I was pretty surprised it was so filthy inside.

I used Lyman’s Turbo Sonic diluted 20:1 with water.

My first mother in law was an English war bride. Tea was an everyday beverage in their household. I didn’t take much from the estate but felt a connection to a couple of loose tea balls. I’m not a tea drinker and they just were in a kitchen drawer doing nothing. I repurposed them to hold small parts in the ultra sonic cleaner. Works well. Large one is for left side small parts and the small one takes right side small parts. Other small parts go into the large ball because they can’t be confused for left or right. She may not have been impressed with the new role but every time I do a Parker I can’t help but think of her. So I think the new role serves a double purpose. I’ll take a daily Scotch anytime over tea but I could take it in a tea cup if need be

Wonder how many parts I'd have left over if I tried to put a Parker back together?

I thought I would not do a full cleanup on the Vimy Parker given its high condition. I found the extractor to drag slightly so I disassembled the barrel parts. There is grunge so they got an ultrasonic bath. I know this means inside the frame there will be grunge. Now the gun shoots flawlessly but I know I will succumb to opening it up and refreshing everything so it will be good for another century of use. What else can old guy do with idle time to keep the brain occupied? Well lots of things I guess but this is therapeutic for me and cheaper than a therapist
