The lovely lock of Parker #1720

I've recently become the caretaker of Parker #1720. I received the gun late last week and have been tinkering with it. The good news is the barrels cleaned up pretty good with just some kroll and a brass brushes and every part of the gun except the forend wood and the right hammer are correctly numbered to the gun. (I did not take the lock mechanisms apart) There was a lot of predominantly surface rust inside the receiver, all of which I was able to remove with Kroll and brass brushes with little pitting remaining. For the most part the interior mechanics look great. The only major issue is that the stock has pretty significant cracks and a small piece broken off but still in place. I’m taking it to a very talented friend this week and I’m fairly certain he can repair the stock issues and there are no signs of them on the exterior. The craftsmanship of the internal mechanism is clockmaker like. All in all it’s a wonderful representation of a very early Parker and I’m thrilled to have it and proud to own it. I’m sure it has some great stories of days afield. I'm going to have the barrels checked and hopefully sling some smoky rounds down range with it at the Soutern. The pictures show the mechanism uncocked, half cocked and full cocked. (not in that order)

I did see that George. The seam was imperceptible until I brushed the area.
