Repair Code Timing Mystery

Ok for some reason I just noticed or remembered my 12ga Skeet Gun had a repair code of LE stamped on the barrel flats.

According to my PGCA letter the gun was "ordered begun" in June 1934. Shipped to the Parker Warehouse in Jan 1935 and shipped to it's first owner on 3/23/1936.

The repair code is LE which translates to Feb 1936. So it was repaired before it was ever shipped? Or did they go over it before shipment since it had been in the warehouse for over a year?

Pete, A possible scenario.... The gun was started right at the end of Parker ownership.By the time the gun shipped it was stamped with the Remington date code like my two Remington era guns. Is the stamp close to the barrel lug near the breech?

Yes Dave, the stamps are close the the lug and the breech.

Pete, Remington date code. Not a repair code.

Remington repair date codes will also have a 3 which means returned for service.

Yup, it's a manufacturing date code. "Repair code" is kind of misleading the way we use it.

my skeet VHE is a 100 #'s higher than pete's gun with BE stamped along side lug = to jan. 1936 , scott

My No. 238528 is marked with a "B H" and sun like symbol above. What the heck does that mean?

Fred, "BH" would mean Jan. 1939 My 16 gauge skeet gun has two! WD= Aug 1935 and DF =Sept 1937 No repair codes. Maybe the gun left the factory twice?

Thanks Dave, I thought the SN suggested 1936. There is a vague mark ("P"?) a couple of spaces after the "BH". I had a lot of trouble getting the light right to see the marks; I don't think I can get a useful pic of it. How about that bright little "sun"; anyone else have one of those?
