NM and CO Sporting Courses
Anyone shot sporting or 5 stand at the NRA Warrington Center in NM https://www.nrawc.org/ranges/shotgun-range/ or at Colorado Clays south of Denver https://www.coloradoclays.com/pricing/ . I’m going to be out there in May for a week so thought I might try one or both .

Whittington is great! Excellent camping, and RV slots. Very affordable... Cheaper than the KOA in Raton. Trap, Skeet, Sporting are all very good. Take a rifle to shoot the White Buffalo at 1000 meters. There are more rifle and pistol ranges to keep you busy for two weeks!

Colorado Clays is the main place I shoot sporting clays. It's a fun 15 stand course along a cotton wood tree lined creek bottom. The best part is it ran by a group of super nice people, but being as it is the closest range to the northern Denver metro area it can get pretty busy at times and you need to check the calendar on their web site due to the spring/summer specialty shoots that close the range to the general public at time's.
Being as you're going to be staying in Colorado Springs, you might want to consider shooting at Kiowa creek which is SE of the metro area & north of the town of Kiowa. It's probably the overall nicest venue in Colorado that offers sporting clays & five stand. There's another course fairly close to Kiowa as well that you might want to consider. Both of these might be an easier shorter drive to get to from the Springs, with the consideration that driving I-25 from Castle Rock through Denver is a nightmare anymore & is a constant traffic jam all day long. Shooting the courses in Kiowa you can take less traveled roads with a more scenic drive. Hope this helps some! |
GH-16. Have you ever been to the MW Reynold’s ? I visited Denver a few years back and came across this store. Nice sporting store with a mix of fly fishing gear, sporting clothing and other nice things. They had a couple interesting guns, a couple beautiful AYAs and an antique elephant gun. The best part was my wife happened to mention it was my birthday and they let me choose a couple pours from a nice selection of whiskey. Probably one of the best birthdays I have had.

The store closed down? Oh no. That’s very sad. I told many friends to visit that place when they found themselves in Denver. |
