New From the Southern

I promised myself I would not buy any new guns at the Southern.
I broke that promise twice.
A Pedro Arrizabalaga 20 GA copy of a H&H Best Gun, and a AH Fox AE 16 GA.

New Fox

Congrats Bob. I picked up an aYa No1 in 20g with 29.5" barrels. It fit a need I didn't need.

Rick Roemer 04-27-2026 10:37 PM

Rules are meant to be broken. They are both nice. I favor the Fox

Mike Franzen 04-28-2026 06:44 AM

Technically you didn’t break your promise. Those are not “New” guns. You are absolved. Now go and shoot :-)

Bobby Cash 04-28-2026 07:25 AM

Were it meant to be hung onto, they'd have made money with handles.

Greg Baehman 04-28-2026 10:42 AM

That Pedro Arrizabalaga of yours is wonderfully engraved -- a mighty fine and impressive piece of work!

Daryl Corona 04-28-2026 10:52 AM

Bob,

Tell us more about the Fox. And if you haven't already, you can get a factory card on that A grade, free if you are a member on the AHFCA website. Have fun shooting the both in good health.

Andrew Sacco 04-28-2026 11:15 AM

Yeah that Fox is something else. I didn't see that one.

The Fox is an ordinary 16 AE except for very nice original condition. 28" #4 weight barrels choked M/F. Weighs 5lb. 14 oz.

Bob that gun fits exactly the type of gun that attracts me. "Ordinary" means I'm not afraid to take her hunting. Sub 6lbs. Wow.

Bob Jurewicz 04-28-2026 11:32 AM

Greg,
The engraving is spectacular. That is why I had to buy the gun. My pictures don't show enough of the fine artistic detail. Also, workmanship is top notch.

Nothing ordinary about that AE. Very nice example from Philly.

You can say that again!

The shadowing and the intertwining of the engraver's cuts elicits a sense of depth to this piece. Spectacular is an understatement. One can be rest assured the engraver's graver was not a 16d nail.

Beautiful guns. Congratulations

Allen Peterson 04-28-2026 05:24 PM

That sub 6lb 16 AE is perfect for the grouse woods.
