Recently scored a new-to-me SC with the scroll on the bottom of the frame instead of the pigeon. I don't have it in hand yet. The serial # is 184943. Certainly a candidate for the latest version of that engraving pattern on an SC. The next serial # in the I&S book is 185004. No telling what happened to the 61 serial numbers in between unless the recent records purchase by John Davis, et al adds new information. The 184xxx series of serial numbers is sparse with many gaps in the book.

Beautiful set of SC's! It would be interesting to hear how you came about the consecutively numbered guns and I am also curious about the placement of the Parker brand on the bottom of the receiver on the last one, well before Remington took over ownership. It is great to learn something new every day.

180115 I bought at Auction years ago, 180114 I was lucky enough to purchase a year or 2 ago at a local gun shop here in the Sacramento area. 180114 was originally ordered for a trap shooter in San Francisco, CA according to the research letter. The gun has always resided in California.

As soon as I walked into the gun shop, asked to see the SBT, and saw it was 180114 I knew I had to have it!!!

185102 was a "Pachmayr Parker" that was upgraded at some time in the Pachmayr shop. It was a Ducks Unlimited dinner gun that Pachmayr donated to DU and was sold at a DU Dinner at auction in the early 1970's. The gun was bought at Auction by a close family friend that gave it to my father after his passing. It was the first Parker that my father gave to me and started the SBT craze.

Thanks,

Bobby

So, what upgrading did Packmayr do that differs from the Parker engraving? Do the sides look markedly different? They must have obliterated the original Parker Bros name on the sides?? How do the sides compare to your other examples? You sure have a valuable family heirloom on that gun from your father!

Amazing collection.

185102 is interesting. It might be the highest serial numbered SC without the pigeon. Also, it was manufactured in 1919 according to our records. Selected for upgrade by pachmyer for upgrade in the 1970’s, I doubt the date of manufacture was known back then. Would be great to know the full story behind this gun.
