Have always been tempted to spend a day in the eastern UP for sharptails on my way west of there for grouse. Good looking dog for sure!

Thanks Harold, I think it can definitely be worth it but it’s very pressured. There are many farms with hunter access program up there, and when we rolled up to one in the evening on opening day there were trucks full of hunters and setters on every other property we could see.

Beautiful country up there, I love west Texas where I’m from with all my heart but Michigan is a magical place.

Thanks for sharing. More than once I've seen a mixed breed thrive. Nice looking pup.

I wish you both a long life and many great hunts together. Good looking pooch.

If you're going to get a Springer, make sure it's a field-bred dog, not a show dog

Great story and you will remember every minute of it for the rest of your life!
I breed Labs, I have 3 dogs now and all were puppies from my litters and each has become great hunters.
My middle dog, Parker learned on her own that if a bird is running down a path that if she goes 90° then turns again parallel and turns again that she pushes the bird back to the hunter. I didn't even think about trying to train that . They all figure out things we never would think about! Always trust the nose!
There is no better feeling than YOUR dog finding its first bird! Take pride in yourself and your your pup.
Congrats on your new son!
Thank you for your service!
