Anderson and Ireland Hardware and Sporting Goods catalog, Baltimore, MD, 1937, hard cover, 8 1/2 X 11, everything under the sun including Parker shotguns. 442 pages, just the index is 19 pages of small print. A few great glossy color pages. The best hardware catalog I have ever seen. Worn cover, minty inside. $10

11. The Complete Book of Corvette, Editors of Consumer Guide. 8 1/2 X 11, 320 pages, almost a coffee table book, but more technical and with extensive history. 1987. 16. The Gun that Made the Twenties Roar, William J. Helmer, 1969, unread condition with plastic protected mint dustcover. 286 pages, apparently the definitive history and information work on the Thompson submachine gun. I don't know because I can't afford them. Overdue from a local library, but not by me. Card is intact. $11

The last time I sold books, it was $8 shipping on one or two. How about $10 for the first two and the same if you buy five or more unless postage gets out of hand? I will use mediamail which is real cheap. More to come. Please let me know what your intensions are by PM, not on this thread. I will try my best to update. When I wrote this ad, the total was $115, crazy huh? Take them all, $100 free shipping. Get in before others bid. Please don't just buy one book. Packing is heck. Bill Murphy

Mr. Tatman beat everyone to the punch. It took forty minutes. Sorry for the unsuccessful buyers. Like I said, "More to come".

Those books will complement the bookshelves at Tin Cup Camp nicely!! Not to mention hours of reading on some cold, wet days!

Thanks, Murph!

[QUOTE=Dave Tatman;450658]Those books will complement the bookshelves at Tin Cup Camp nicely!! Not to mention hours of reading on some cold, wet days!

My longtime waterfowling and blue water fishing companion Capt. Al had a girlfriend when I first met him 51 years ago who had a dog named "Tin Cup", a mixed-breed flat coated medium sized terrier mix. I forget how the dog came by that name, but his all-too-frequent barks always reminded me of someone shouting at the top of their lungs into a large metal pail.

In order to explain the reasoning behind Tin Cup, allow me to share the story behind the name.....

When I bought my cabin in the heart of Northern Michigan's trout and grouse paradise, I was looking for a name to call the place, something beyond just "the cabin"..... So I proposed a naming contest to about ten of my closest hunting and fishing buddies. I would be the sole judge and jury as to what suggestion was the winner, but whoever suggested the winning name would receive a bottle of fine Kentucky bourbon.

The suggestions came in fast and furious in the two weeks that I had the submission period open, ultimately resulting in nearly 100 suggestions, many of which were quite worthy!

But my good friend, who is a PGCA member, won with the suggestion that we call it the Tin Cup. Why, you might ask.....?

John Voelker, a passionate Michigan fisherman, writer, and Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court, wrote a treatise entitled, The Testament of a Fisherman. Terrific prose - I would encourage any of you who fish to look up the entire version (3 or 4 paragraphs, total). It will move you.

However, as part of the Testament, he wrote these words.....

"... Because bourbon from an old Tin Cup always tastes better out there....."

Thus, the name of the cabin...... The Tin Cup.
