Hi All - I recent purchased my first Parker and felt it appropriate to join here. I'm looking for any helpful info on my new purchase 20ga Parker Side by Side, s/n 62793. I believe it's from the late 1800's or early 1900's. I joined the PGCA and will be ordering a letter for it shortly.

I am looking for a qualified gunsmith the inspect the gun to determine it's usability.....I'd like to use it as a pheasant / quail gun. Would anyone be able to suggest a good vintage sxs gunsmith in NJ - eastern PA - lower NY State?

Here's a couple of pics..... (if I can get the attachments to work)

Thanks in advance for your input!

It looks a bit beefy for a 20 gauge. Post pictures of the flats of the barrels and action with the gun disassembled and we may be able to give you some information. The gun is listed as a 12 gauge Damascus barrel gun in the serialization book. It is really a nice looking gun.

1890 production D grade. There are four entries in the record books. You should order a letter.

How about a photo or two of the rib inscriptions?

I'm not seeing any inscription on the barrel rib.

On the bottom of the barrels, the left barrel has one star and the right barrel has three stars. I'm guessing this is an indication of the choke...am I correct?

Will a 12 gauge shell fit in the chamber? Not to shoot it; just to determine fit. The "book" indicates it is a 12 gauge, but the markings on the underside of the barrels are confusing. Nice gun, though.

I read Vickers works - Nickel Steel on the barrels so they are replacement barrels made in 20 ga. likely

Definitely replacement barrels. Not Parker and no record of them being replaced at either Meriden or Ilion.

Rebarrelled in the sixties or seventies by a European shop probably. A #2 frame gun with a 1 1/8 inch distance between firing pin holes or a #1 frame gun with 1 1/16 inch pin separation. A PGCA letter could give you some interesting information.

Quite possibly Atlas Arms barrels --

Yup, I don't know who made these barrels, but I own a set and they are very well made. I haven't found a gun that my Atlas barrels fit, but the day is young.
