Hello Everyone,

I am excited to keep this tradition going. This Parker shoot will be on Sunday May 10th at 9:30AM at Peace Dale Shooting Preserve in South Kingstown, Rhode Island: https://www.pdshootingpreserve.com

Last year this shoot came together like I had always hoped. We had several members travel to be a part of this, which was wonderful. We'll do the main sporting clays course and they have 5-stand for later if anyone is interested.
We will have a cookout after the shoot at the picnic area which has grills. I might aspire to going beyond burgers and dogs this year and get some help to make it easy. I think we have some amazing deserts on the way, but I will confirm. Another thing I would like to continue is a Parker display so there will be tables(this has been getting better every year!).

I would like to give them an estimate of the size of our group so please let me know if you can attend.

It is always so nice to see and meet PGCA members in person as well as new shooters. I have a few “new” Parkers to show off to some of you since last year, does anyone like hammer guns? Last year I let a few people shoot a Lifter for the first time with brass black powder shells and it was great to see their smiles.

Something separate that I will gauge interest on. Since my big event is on a Sunday, if anyone wants to come early and do a trip to Addieville (Another sporting clay place where Robin Hollow is located) on Saturday we could turn this into a weekend of Parkers! Let me know if this sounds like fun.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Looking forward to it!
Jay

Hi Jay,
Bev and I can bring desert for Sunday. ( I heard somebody likes Raspberry Cream.)
We will also have a few Parker beauties for the display table. (Bev loves her SBT.)
We'll try to make Addieville on Saturday, but may have to join up later in the afternoon.

PS
Thanks Jay for putting this all together!

I like how this is coming together. The kind of weekend where you shoot a case of shells :)

Keep letting me know and I will get a better idea on numbers and all we are going to do.

It's going to be fun!

Hi Jay, thank you for putting this together again. I will be there as will my buddy Steve. If there is something I can bring for the cookout please let me know. Maybe paper products or chips or drinks?
Really looking forward to it. I have a new hammer gun to show also.

Dorothy and I will both be going to the Addieville leg of the weekend. I’ll be bringing three Lifters with the beautiful Parker-made Laminated Steel barrels for show & tell.
We haven’t seen Bill and Robin for a long time so we’ll be looking them up while there.

Not sure if we’ll make the Peace Dale leg on Sunday.

Thanks Jay!

Hmmmm of all the states in the NE I think RI is the only one I’ve not set foot on or driven thru . Sadly it looks like I’ll be leaving for Colorado Springs that day or the day after .

Jay I'm checking my schedule. Bill Hadfield told me I have to go, it's a great event. My wife I'm sure would want to come Saturday and find a place to eat somewhere boogie hahah. She used to live in Providence and loves the state. And visiting Bill at Robin Hollow is always dangerous for my wallet but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Oh boy you guys aren't helping my cause here. I'll be lucky to get out of Sanford financially intact at this point. I told a new member here I was willing to part with my 32" VH with straight grip then I made the mistake of picking her up again...and I couldn't pull the trigger. I had to apologize for backing out. I think I'd have an easier time selling one of my kidneys.

I am open to being enabled myself!

I thought I hit the jackpot when I got my 32" 20ga. DHE pistol grip

I have come to the conclusion that there just isn't anything better than a straight gripped long barreled sxs

Daryl is this the one you brought last year or something new? I believe the one you let me shoot last year "only" had 30" barrels. You're living well my friend!

Dean Romig

IMO a small bore (20 or 28) long barreled, graded Parker with a straight grip and splinter forend is the penultimate gun for either clays or live birds. Perfection in other words.

Don’t make the mistake I’ve made to many times to remember ! And that’s putting a price on something when you’re really not worried about selling and then after the fact you wished you hadn’t priced it

Craig that wasn't me. I did find my 32" 20 DHE on GB(0 frame), it was well used with a few dents in the barrels. Breck Gorman fixed and refinished the barrels and Brian Dudley cleaned everything else and refinished the wood. The Parker is definitely a long legged beauty now!

One year at the Southern, I did by a 30" 20ga VH straight stocked choked F/F with stock specifications and a request for 2 7/8 chambers, also on an 0 frame. This has turned into my go to Parker for so many things...

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to get a quick note out about my shoot on Sunday May 10th at PeaceDale Shooting Preserve in South Kingstown, RI. When I schedule this shoot, I didn't realize that this Sunday was Mother's Day.

I wanted to get a sense from those attending(or not attending) if there was a big enough conflict to try and figure out another time.

Thank you,
Jay

Thanks for the feedback so far. Last year was during Memorial weekend. One of the challenges is finding the right time and venue availability.

There isn't much room to change things as the following weekend is a college graduation and there are already events at PeaceDale. The next weekend is Memorial weekend. It's a challenge to find a good time, but I will certainly do better next year.

Please continue to let me know what works or doesn't work for this event so I can get an accurate account on numbers.

Thank you,
Jay

Just a week away, looking forward to a wonderful weekend of Parkers.

Looks like where about half and half between Addieville Saturday 5/9 and PeaceDale Sunday 5/10.

Addieville is just shooting on Saturday and PeaceDale on Sunday will be the main event so to speak(this is my home course). Shooting, lunch and a great display of Parkers.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Hello Everyone,

Everything is coming together for this weekend of Parkers event.

For Addieville on Saturday, please get there at 9 and we will get out on the course soon after. Robin Hollow Outfitters will be open and I look forward to checking it out when we are done.

For PeaceDale on Sunday, I appreciate all of the volunteers who are bringing food, coffee, paper plates, etc.

I hate to ask, but I could use a case of bottled water and some soda (and if you want some adult beverages feel free to bring and enjoy).

We'll meet at 9:00 and get out on the course at 9:30 with lunch when we are finished shooting.

Any requests on display guns? I have some very early Parkers(2 and 3 digit serial number back actions), Gene Hill's Woodcock Gun, 410 RBL and some nice composite barreled small bores. I will also have some black powder brass shotshells and a few lifters so you can experience what these hammer guns would have shot when they were new...maybe I can recruit a few of you over to the wonderful world of black powder shooting :)

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Yes, yesterday’s turnout at Addieville was disappointing, I suspect primarily because of the forecast of rain. In reality it was sunny or partly sunny most of the morning and just a sprinkle toward noontime. We had a great day and I’ll advise that nobody shoot against Jay who probably shot about 90% or better.

Jay is a modest guy…
He took Bev’s new .410 hammer gun and hammered the clays !
Great fun yesterday afternoon and some great pointers by Jay.
The fun today at Peacedale starts in about an hour.
Jay offered some 10ga black powder shells for my 10ga hammer.
I just might give it a go.

Today was too much fun and flew by way too fast. Once again this was everything I hoped it would be…wonderful people, great shooting, lots of Parker talk and delicious food and some show tell. My son was able to join this shoot for the first time. That was a proud moment for me as well.

My wife cooked on the grill, I owe her one for that! Beverley and Clark once again made and brought the most amazing deserts. It is such a wonderful way to finish a morning of shooting. I think this always turns out so well because everyone contributes. From set up to packing vehicles everyone pitched in.

Some amazing guns to be seen today too. There was a Damascus AAHE on the course. Beverly was doing very well with her hammer 410. A nice mix of small bore hammerless and big bore hammer guns. I shot a few different guns, but was settling into my “new to me” #286 back action lifter quite nicely especially with black powder shells.

It was nice to see some familiar faces. Next year I hope to see more of you, I promise I will not schedule the shoot on Mothers Day! That was an honest mistake on my part and I look forward to finding a better day for this.

I appreciate everyone that made today so special!

Thank you and see you soon!
Jay

What started out as a gray day, became sunny and mild the moment we headed out to shoot, and shoot well. I affectionately refer to my little straight stocked 28" 28ga, as the red headed stepchild, but my little girl performed well into the 80% range, which only added to the great day. If there is a consolation to the relatively few numbers (15-16) of shooters, it's being able to bring home leftover dessert, and even calling it dessert seems inadequate. Meeting the McCombes was entirely my pleasure, despite missing Daryl's company.
Peacedale made sure all the machines were up to snuff, and nailing rabbits mid-air had each in our squad smiling, if not giggling. Christy manned the grill, and no one went away hungry.
'Show & Tell' made envy our sin and had me thinking 'maybe just one more'. For me, it was Larry taking every opportunity to tease me with the lovely 28ga DHE I missed by a scant ten minutes, though his 28/.410 Roberts sidelock was a distraction. The kind that sucks your breath from you.
From a personal perspective, I remember how some of the best shoots started out small, and I only hope I live many more glorious years to see this one become a 'best shoot'. To those who have yet to join in, you simply missed out. It really is the place to be.

It was a tremendous day, Jay!
Great fun, friends, food, guns (both large and small bore), black powder shells and the chance to once again get together and meet some new members of the Parker family. Having not made it to the Southern this year, this did the trick.
My thanks to you and everyone for another memorable experience!

Absolutely wonderful day, thank you Jay and everyone for making it happen. This deserves to be a bigger shoot. I couldn’t do the Saturday side event at Addiville but Peacedale is a fun course, the weather cooperated, the people and the guns were great. I shot a 1950’s Winchester M21 in 28 gauge but I did have a Parker backup gun in the truck. Great event—-see you next year, God willing.

Next year! I’ll bring an array of M21s And we can do the Saturday at my club on Madison, CT on the way to Peacedale. I’ll bring it to Hausmans too and you are welcome to heat it up.

What a senior moment……I shot the second half of the course with the Winchester…..I shot the first half with a 1937 Parker GHE 20 gauge skeet gun.
Was wondering why I had two dirty shotguns. Pass the Prevegen.
