I just purchased a 20 gauge Trojan. Based on the serial number, it was one of the last 140-150 guns made in the Parker Factory. I noticed that it doesn't have Parker Bros. engraved on the sides which is unusual based on the other Trojans I've seen.
Does anybody have any ideas on why this was left off? Could it have been ordered that way?
After the Remington buyout of Parker Bros. in 1934, the name "Parker Bros." could no longer be put on Remington-produced guns, only the name "Parker", which is commonly found on the forepart of the action break on the underside of the guns made after the buyout. Remington bought the name "Parker", not "Parker Bros." Occasionally you will see oddball guns with Parker Bros. on the sides AND Parker on the underside, but these are few and far between. Likewise, the Remington-produced Parkers do not have the legend inscribed on the top of the rib as did the Parker Bros. produced guns. As with the names, there are a few exceptions to this rule as well, however.
