I am about to receive a Parker Trojan 20 Ga. It is in rough shape. I am not a collector nor am I extremely knowledgeable re: Parkers. I do know it has poorly finished replacement wood (no checkering and wrong color) with an old red rubber recoil pad. Therefore I am looking for repro. wood and the repro. butt plate. Please point me in the right direction and give me an idea of cost.
Thank You

Take it from me Ron, you'll be very hard-pressed to find a complete set of Repro wood & skeleton buttplate. I searched for a long time to find just a buttstock with no buttplate and finally found one that I could feel good about buying at a price I considered fair and affordable. Further, the repro forend is not at all appropriate for a Trojan. The forend latch is all wrong and the ejector iron mortising of the wood is wrong too. I would recommend you continue to look for wood from a similar Trojan or have a new buttstock and forend made for your Parker.

I'd say your best choice if you want original wood would be look on Ebay. They pop up from time to time. Replacement buttplates are sometimes there as well. Depending on how bad it looks, someone might be able to make your current replacement stock look decent. I'd say post some pictures once you get it so the board members can take a look and add their comments. PS. If you post the s/n we can probably tell you a few things about the gun such as original barrel length and year made. etc.

Thank you both for your replies. I will definitely post some photos and include the serial # as soon as I have it. I do a fairly decent job of stock refinishing and I know I can't do worse than the current appearance so I may give it a try.

Dean, I don't think he is/was looking for Repro wood (capital R), but was looking for repro wood (lower case r). I don't think I've ever seen any repro wood for a Trojan, but does anyone know if Fajen had patterns for the Trojan? If so, Wenig might be able to make up a set at a reasonable price. A duplicated or reproduced VH buttstock, with the exception of the shield, grip cap and checkering should suit his needs. The forend is a different matter entirely. Last edited on Tue Mar 31st, 2009 09:52 am by Dean Romig

Tom, You are correct. I wanted to know if reproduction wood ( a modern, fake, current version of the original wood and butt plate) was available. I was unaware that using a capital R indicated something else.
30 plus years ago, I raised and trained Brittanies and bird hunted with some quality doubles. Those days and the toys are gone. I happened upon this Trojan and decided an old guy could still wander around the mountains of Western NC and scare up a grouse or two. It just breaks my heart to see a fine old double, even a plain jane Trojan, be allowed to deteriate (sp?) for want of a little care. I intend to bring it back to reasonable shape as limited funds allow. (Nobody in this government is sending old guys stimulus money, especially for firearm restoration.)Last edited on Tue Mar 31st, 2009 12:01 pm by Ron Thompson
