Rig rust preventing gun grease is often mentioned on this forum.
Here is the text of and the reply to an email I sent yesterday to Jackson Safety Products which company is the current owner of SILENCIO.
Email sent to Jackson Safety Products - April 6, 2009
To: AskJacksonProductDetailsQuestion
Is it correct that you have discontinued the production and distribution of SILENCIO RIG RUST PREVENTING GUN GREASE? I have used this product since the 1950s and am nearing the bottom of my last large can. Is is possible this wonderful product will ever be revived?
Sincerely,
Bob Roberts

Bob,
The Rig line has indeed been discontinued and we no longer have any stock. As to the possibility of being revived? Not likely unless another entity buys the Rig portion of the company from Jackson (it's for sale if you know anybody).
I have gone ahead and forwarded this email on to the VP of product management as you are not alone in your disappointment of the discontinuation of the Rig line.
If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact us.
Thank you,

A word of caution about another product often mentioned on the forum; the Murphy’s Oil Soap web site does not promote the paste version, in fact it is not mentioned at all. A few years ago I tracked down a couple of jars at an Ace Hardware on a tip from a comment posted here.

Bob,
Shotgun sports bought out the last of the inventory. They have it for sale for 3.50 an ounce.

The passing of an era. Always enjoyed stopping by the setup that the "RIG guy" had set up at the OGCA shows (Columbus,Cleveland, and now Wilmington). I think it's great stuff. Glad I bought up enuff to keep my grandkids rust free if they so choose
