I am at a loss to explain the failure of the issue of Parker Pages mailed 21 December to reach many of you. I have sent the problem Zip codes to Village Press, and they will attempt to trace the failure in delivery. Our periodical mailing permit should have eliminated this problem, but apparently our mailings were side tracked in certain parts of the country.
I would like to obtain one or two volunteers in several regions of the country ; ie 5000, 10,000 , 20,000, ... etc Zip codes. I will contact these volunteers by email about seven days after the posting of the next PP. This would allow me , and Village Press, to determine if the mailing is properly progressing. About twenty working days elapse between the posted closing date for material, and the printing and mailing of the issue. We will advance the closing date from the 15th of the month, to the 1st of the month, about two issues from now. This may help us avoid the Christmas rush next year.
The next closing date will be 15 February, and many of us will be spending a week at the Las Vegas show in the interim. We have some very good articles and photos coming in, but we encourage you to send on any contribution you might think interesting to another shooter or collector. I have recieved three new candidates for "Parkers Found"; this department looks like fun, and note we are looking for the earliest and latest surviving gun. If you have a gun you believe to be an early or late example with a certain feature, send it in.
The next issue will have a format with a definite Parker flavor. We are setting templates that will use extracts from Parker catalogs , flyers, etc., to head departments. We are looking for a picture, ad cut or other Parker paper, carrying an illustration of the Parker sales office (outside, entrance, showroom, counter???) in NYC to use as the heading for the "Marketplace" department. If you have such an illustration that you would like used, please send a scan , or contact the editor.
Also, I have been told that it has been rumored that only word processor submissions are accepted by PP. Please pass on to your non computer owning friends that written or typed copy, and photo prints are acceptable.
Thank you all;
Austin Hogan, Editor
