Looking for pictures of pads on D-grades (Silvers, Hawkins, etc). Preferably those on guns in the early 20's. (Not to get too specific)
Thanks,
JDG

Jay the only one I am sure was a replacement is the upper gun with the leather faced Silvers pad that was put on by Galazan before I purchased the gun. I don't recall the name on the 20 perhaps Bruce Day will chime in with that info.

Its a Jostam Hy-Gun on the 20. I'm not aware that they have been reproduced but they are period correct for Parkers. Its on a 20ga DHE 32".
Galazan is now making a No-Shoc that looks nice.
Jay,if you want, tell me the size you need. I know where there is a box of old used pads and I might be able to scrounge one from there. It will be old, but not crushed or hardened. It might say J C Higgins on it but I wouldn't think those Michiganders would have anything bad to say about it.

The gun is a 20 ga DHE 0-frame with a true 0-frame stock (small) dating to 1923. Here is a picture of what I am starting with. I have never been a fan of "ventalited" pads and prefer solid Silver's type pads but I am open to suggestions.
The LOP to the end of the wood is 13-1/4" so any pad that will be 1" - 1-1/4" will be fine. Measuring the distance between the bottom of the brass oval and the end of the existing pad leads me to believe the stock has not been cut. LOP with the existing pad is 14-1/4". My goal is just to get the gun back to close to period-correct and to shoot the heck out of it.

This is a pretty nice old Parker showing years of honest use. Case colors are 15%-20%, the engraving is representative of the period and retains virtually all of the original detail. Wood is OK, certainly not sexy, but representative of the time and the finish is probably 90% and appears to be original. Barrels are 30" with perfect bores, lots of wall thickness and choked .21/.21. Bluing is original, approx 90%, showing wear from use. I have not had it on a scale but it feels to be just over 6-lbs. It feels great in hand, very well balanced, the deminsions are almost perfect for me and I can't wait to hit the clays course with it.

Silvers is a good choice. They are soft, absorb recoil and you can darken them.
