I was cruising the 'net this morning and came across another Parker I didn't need but whose long barrels once again pulled me off the reservation...a 34" CHE 12 ga #2 frame with 4-12 Acme barrels...no records show up for this gun and TPS states that Parker never made one like it...I appears they did ;)  I guess if none show up, it is hard to predict one exists...Damn that "Buy It Now!" feature...

Mr. Kaas, we are all wanting to know the particulars as it looks to be one outstanding speciman at several levels.

OK, Don, give us the site and the item number so we can give it a look after you hit the BIN key.

I saw that one too and said to myself "Go ahead, hit that key . . ." but a little voice said "No wait, it'll still be there tomorrow. Take some time and think it over." . . . so I did and . . . :(

Good for you Don! That's a nice one!

Don't you just hate it when the book containing your Parker's serial number is missing? :(

A unique thing I see about Don's gun is the cross-over checkering pattern on the stock.  That is, where the side panel checkering connects over the top of the wrist.  I've only seen this on one other Parker gun, an 1879 grade 2 lifter.  How common is this checkering pattern?  Nice find, Don.

Don, I was commenting this weekend how good the full checkered forearm looks. If I'm remembering correctly, Destry's straight stocked, grade 3, hammer gun had it.

Another little interesting note on this gun, it has the hickory rod patent date stamped behind the grip cap. This is the first one I have actually held with this "feature". This may be why the crack in the grip has stayed intact. As to the cross over the top checkering, I saw a CHE straight grip I used to own yesterday and it has it as well.

Don I thought that feature was typical on C grades and above. My higher grade guns all have the checkering running over the top both the straight grips as well as ball grip guns.

I agree, Larry, I have seen many others I was just noting for Mr. Purnell another example of  a CHE.

Thanks Don and Larry, that explains why I haven't seen that checkering more, with my only experience in D and under low grades.  Still, it was on a grade 2 underlifter.  That was an early gun when Parker was still getting the grades in order.

Well, I had a bit of good luck last night. I was sorting through my spare barrel cabinet and saw set of complete 30" Titanic #2 frame ejector barrels 4lb 12oz markings, choked .015/.016 that I had forgotten about. I bought them on eBay a few years ago. They are #197,??? and when I tried them on the CHE #207,298 they snapped right on just a few thou proud on the doll's head. Just the way you want them, ready for final "blacking down"  with a bit of filing to the fore end loop to get the original fore end on...Now that doesn't happen too often at least not to me:? ...a 2 barrel set 34" f/f and 30" mod/mod...well, sort of...a piece of Turkish walnut went out to the stock cutter yesterday, the 34" barrels need some work and will be off to Mr. Bickel this weekend ...another P-R-O-J-E-C-T underway:shock:
