I have a small dent in the barrel in VH grade Parker that I would like to have raised.  The local smith that I deal with does not have a hydraulic dent raiser.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a gunsmith in the eastern part of Pennsyvania that may have one in twelve gauge?

I would prefer not to have to ship this gun away if at all possible.

Thanks in advance

Its been several years since I talked to him, I assume he is still in business.

Alfred W. Gallifent is still working on side by side shotguns in Pennsylvania.  He can most likely repair your dented shotgun barrel for you so that you cannot tell that it was ever damaged.   HOWEVER, I am very sure that Mr. Gallifent WILL NOT use a hydraulic dent raising tool.  He will use a much more precise tool to raise the dent.  I have stood in his shop and watched him remove dents from shotgun barrels.  It is a little gunsmithing mixed with a little magic and a great deal of artistry that Mr. Gallifent uses to remove dents.  Good Shooting To You,  Jent

There is nothing wrong with hydraulic dent raiser when used properly. There are a dozen gunsmiths in SE PA that could raise a dent nicely in a VH. You might try Dewey Vicknair in Ephrata. Working with Alfred, like buying a fine wine requires both sufficient funds as well as adequate patience...;)

The hydraulic dent remover is a great tool and I use them myself.  The big drawback to them is that someone who is not careful can very easily go too far and bulge the barrel.  I always hold the barrel up to a strong light and look down the side of the barrel as I remove the dent very slowly.  Properly used, they are an effective tool.
