The following is the PGCA's Policy concerning conduct on the BBS. Its purpose is to provide our Internet Parker Community with guidelines for appropriate behavior for on-line discussions.

The use of and participation in the PGCA message board ("interactive community") is contingent upon your acceptance of the following terms and rules. By participating in the interactive community, you acknowledge your acceptance of these terms. For purposes of this agreement, "Participant" refers to you. "PGCA" refers to The Parker Gun Collectors Association, Inc."

"In efforts to insure the integrity of the site, the PGCA requires that certain types of posts be avoided. Personal business must be conducted in private. Monetary exchanges among collectors constitutes a private and confidential agreement and should remain private. Civility and proper decorum must be practiced at all times. While discussions of the authenticity of Parkers are certainly allowed, unsubstantiated statements and speculations of specific Parkers must be conveyed in confidence to the interested, inquiring parties and should not be "broadcast" via the PGCA’s BBS."

"The success of our forum depends upon the quality posts of our participants. We are proud of the success of our forum and give our thanks to those who have chosen to make our forum their virtual destination for Parker related discussions. To ensure continued success we are posting these guidelines so that all participants of the PGCA forum understand what is considered unacceptable behavior in the forum and can result in a post removal, temporary suspension or a permanent ban."

RULES OF CONDUCT

This forum is for discussing Parker Shotguns and the events associated with Parker Shotguns. These guidelines are posted only to bring clarification on some issues where there have been questions in the past. The PGCA desires to provide an environment that is conducive to discussions about Parker Shotguns and the products and history of the Charles Parker Company. In general what we’re describing here is a code of conduct and if all of our participants will subscribe to this code of conduct most of these rules will be easily observed.

A. ADS SEEKING TO SELL OR PURCHASE PARKER BROS. SHOTGUNS MAY NOT BE POSTED ON THE ON-LINE DISCUSSION FORUM CALLED PARKER BBS ON THE PGCA WEB SITE.

The purpose of the on-line discussion forum called Parker BBS on the PGCA Web Site (http://www.parkergun.org) is to permit Parker collectors and others interested in Parker Bros. shotguns to seek answers to questions regarding their design, manufacture, characteristics, features, history, and repair. Other purposes include attempts to locate missing or replacement parts, to obtain information about persons who repair or restore Parkers, and to inquire or provide information regarding gun shows, auctions, and sales of Parker collections.

The PGCA Web Site under Parker Dealers offers access to dealers interested in purchasing or selling Parker Bros. shotguns. Additional links offered by many of these dealers provide access to a significant number of Parker dealers. These dealers are the lifeblood of our hobby making so many fine Parkers available today. The Parker Pages, newsletter of the PGCA, is published quarterly, and it includes a Parker Buy & Sell section for all PGCA members use at no cost. It also includes a PGCA Dealer's Page, demonstrating again the PGCA's support of Parker Brothers shotgun dealers.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms of The Department of the Treasury has announced its intent to investigate the purchase and sale of guns via the Internet. The legal ramifications, both Federal and state, regarding these and other matters related to the purchase and sale of firearms are too numerous to list. Without attempting to either address or resolve any of these issues, not allowing the posting of purchase and sale ads on the PGCA Web Site appears not only prudent but also appropriate and unnecessary for the reasons outlined.

B. Show respect at all times. A potential PGCA member’s first impression may be formed by their experience at this site.

C. Help build The PGCA BBS Community.

D. Personal attacks are prohibited. This specifically means any text/post that is blatantly attacking another person on or off the forum, especially in a personal way.

E. Trolling is prohibited. TROLLING is whenever someone is clearly, deliberately posting in a manner for the purpose of angering and/or insulting the other participants of the BBS. Trolling DOES NOT encourage further discussion in the long run; it only encourages personal attacks (if left unchecked).

F. Private Messages received on this forum are to be considered private and are not to be posted publicly unless the sender of the private message agrees.

G. Post removal, bans and warnings are not to be discussed on the forum. Any inquiries or comments on post removals, bans and warnings are to be sent in private messages or via email. A moderator may choose to publicly inform the participants of the Forum about post removal, bans and warnings if this is in the interest of the forum.

H. Posting of pornography, racist or otherwise discriminating remarks, threats to cause physical or mental harm, extreme offensive language, material that breaks any law or otherwise totally unacceptable posts or links to pages that contain the aforementioned material may result in an immediate ban from the forum.

I. Spamming the forum is prohibited. SPAMMING is the practice of sending copies of a message to many different newsgroups, with no regard to whether the subject matter is appropriate; or sending the same message by email to large numbers of people indiscriminately. Sometimes spams are advertisements. Spamming is considered bad "netiquette" and very unethical because it not only wastes everyone's time, but also costs money. The sender of the messages does not pay the cost; it is paid by the sites of the recipient and others on the route.

J. Not responding to or ignoring moderator warnings can lead to suspension.

K. Unsolvable problems (including banning) a participant has with a moderator are to be discussed with the PGCA BBS Forum Administrators (bbs_admin@parkergun.org)

"Thank you for being a part of the PGCA community! If you have any comments or questions, feel free to send us a private message or an e-mail at bbs_admin@parkergun.org"
