I recall someone mentioning that one of the screws will have a mark on the lead end but they did not remember if that meant left or right. In re-doing 108603, I can finally see the metal for what it is and I do see one of the short floor plate screws has a straight cut (almost like the start of a slot) across the lead end. Does someone know if the mark is to identify the left screw or the right screw?? Thanks, Jack |

Jack, If memory serves me, it is the following: this is with floor plate facing you (up/ gun turned upside down) screw on left no marking, screw on right straingt or minus sign, back screw has a plus sign. I have two parkers with this configuration and several in random patterns. If they are replacment screws there will be no marks. Good luck. |

Thanks John. Also very helpful that you mention the view, as I would have taken left and right to correspond with the barrels. So the screw with the minus sign is the right screw when viewed as one would during re-assembly. The back screw is not an issue as it is unique. Only one screw bears a mark (negative sign as you describe). I have been told that when floorplate screws do not index properly at a correct torque, they may be reversed, as the heads were final finished after being installed. So, it will be useful to re-assemble in the correct position at the outset. I am assuming original screws, not replaements. I don't think anyone put money into this gun. A visit to a gunsmith for her seems about as likely as a depression era farm woman enjoying a day at a luxury spa. Not impossible but unlikely. Its various issues look very much "home made". Still learning. Cheers, Jack |

I believe later guns (at least the ones I've had apart) have all three floorplate screws of equal length, rather than the earlier configuration where the rear-most screw is longer than the other two. In these later guns, there is one with a "+", one with a "-", and one with no mark. Jim |

I remember these marks also on later guns;the no mark screw fits in front of the trigger guard and the other two I always note and place on my screw board [or tackle box compartment]with a label as I disassemble. |

Thanks gents. When I disassembled, I didn't bother to keep track of which side they came from because both sides were so far off being indexed I thought I would find out what they looked like once cleaned up. We'll see how it goes. Cheers, Jack |

Jack, I took several apart the other night just to check. No pattern as to which went where. But, assuming they are original, one had a plus sign, one had a minus sign, and the third had no marking or some had a dot. Again if they are replacement screws they are not likely to have any markings. |
