A word of warning fellows. Last year at the Duluth Puglisi shoot, the Parker people were edged out by the Fox folks, most of whom were shooting new Foxes. The Smith crew was third. There were some good shooters in the bunch, but we have confidence that you won't let us down. The Spanish gun shooters were a distant fourth, maybe those guns didn't speak Minnesotan.

I don,t for one minute underestimate the shooting prowess of our brothers -in-arms the Fox guys. Otherwise why would they mount a challenge? But I am in no way going to let this challenge get into my head and ruin a day reserved for fun. ;)

Absolutely. The idea is to have fun. Otherwise we get like competition sporting clays where you start high gun, can't joke with the shooter, the guns have adjustable recoil pads and spring combs and you have a motorized choke tube changer. Last weekend we didn't keep score and if the shooter at the station missed, there were 2 or 3 backup shooters to get the bird. That was fun, particularly taking your shot so that the backup shooters had no chance if you missed.

Have fun.

When you shoot against those heathen Fox people, get some Parker shooters for backup in case the Fox shooter misses. Pulling his shorts down also helps.

I have been advised by team Fox that they will only be shooting guns with a Philadelphia pedigree.

Dave,

You know Deb and I will be there. I have a new $50.00 bill for the challenge but suspect it will be not be needed. ;)

Bruce, who's the big guy with the Mossberg bolt action and adjustable choke? I haven't seen one of them since the sixties, how did he shoot?

Dean, Greg Moats, a buddy of mine. Former USMC Captain, a great shooter, PGCA member, and gun magazine writer. Erudite, knowledgeable and funny. Greg is nationally ranked and shoots anything well, unfortunately for me when I shoot against him. He can turn a bolt faster than about anybody I've seen and empty a .45 magazine at speed into a six inch circle at whatever the standard mid range is, 20yards?  Greg posts on Shooting Sportsman and other sites as "Bluerock Brimley".

Bruce, if you think of it next time you're talking with Greg, ask him if he knew George Dombroski, former long time USMC Pistol Team member - in fact, asked back year after year to compete with the team even after he had retired. I hadn't heard from George for a couple of months and got no replies from him on a couple of e-mails I sent to him. Kathy and I were  driving to the Southern in 2007 and were only about 50 miles from home when I decided to give him a call. His wife, Cathy, answered and informed me that George had died in February... I couldn't talk, and tears blurred my vision for many more miles. George was a good friend to anyone who knew him.

I'll do that Dean. I've tried without success to get Greg back to the Southern because I think he could make the squad without difficulty, maybe his wife too. He's down to a single Parker 20ga D under construction but I suspect people could find a gun for him to shoot. Can't help but like Greg, an officer and a gentleman. He works for Rick Rew, another PGCA member with a first rate Parker collection including the Adm. Fletcher and rabbit gun A grades. Like to get both Greg and Rick back there.

Dean, Greg showing a well known book written by our mutual friend  Larry Brown , US Army Col. Ret.      Larry writes an outdoor column and hangs out with us at the Parker booth at Pheasant Fest.  Near and dear to Destry's and other's hearts, he uses a Browning Auto 5 Sweet Sixteen but we'll forgive him.  Neither of us can believe the book was actually written by Larry;  its too good and has sold too well. :)
