After looking on ID your Parker, I have a few ?? It was mfg. in 1902 ,frame is a 2 ,rib says Vulcan steel ,stamped 42.However the serial # is on the side of the barrel lug & not on watertable. I cannot find a Grade stamped anywhere. What goes with that?

VH is the grade. 4,2 is the unstruck barrel weight. Photos will help us give you more information.

The serial number should be on the side of the bbl lug and on the water table but not the barrel flats. Some of the earlier hammer guns had an order number stamped on the barrel flats. The grade should be stamped above or below the serial number on the water table. Post up some pics.

Destry;

Your girlfriends give you more than your share. Really I wanted to word this differently but don't want to be censured by the BBS.

I'm sure some wives will provide you with Parker guns. However, in general, once a guy says "I do" there is less tolerance for the hunt-fish-gun-car-boat-rod-reel-amplifier-kegerator-type stuff.... that's all. Nothing is absolute. If she gave you a Parker propose, if she gave you a boat let her move in.

as in . . . "please send photo of boat."

But, of course, you're right. If we were single we would have a lot more time to indulge our shooting, hunting and fishing impulses. But I know that I, for one, would be the poorer . . . financially speaking of course :D

Indeed, if not for my wife I'd be eating AA hulls and speaker wire... but I'd have a kegerator in the den to wash them down with! God bless her, she is good for me!

Dave the trick is to marry a women that can outshoot most guys with gun or bow and loves to hunt and fish more than you do. The down side is now you have to buy two bows, two guns, two fly rods, etc. Believe me you wont here me complaining.:D

I'm a lucky guy in that my wife doesn't care what I buy...but then I don't tell her either;). She lets me go where I want when I want with out to much complaining.

She did want the serial numbers and value of the guns I'm taking to PA this weekend....just in case something happened....so she said:?.

I have a good friend in California who has a ranch in the San Benito Hills outside Coalinga. He finally married a lady who had been renting a hunting cabin from him. As they went down the 'aisle' in his yard they both held the guns they had exchanged during the vows.... he gave her a nice 7mm mag, she gave him a V grade Parker 12ga that he loves. I have a video of the wedding. Awesome.... I also have a video of her knocking down a wild hog on their ranch at 485yds with the 7mm. Impressive.... I'm envious!!

This may sound politically incorrect but, all my estranged wife ever gave me was BARBED WIRE & BATTLE FATIGUE. Best thing I ever did was go out to dinner with the woman who worked in the state test barn at my horse racing track. My serious question is why there is no grade stamped on my barrel. Is that a reflection of the age of the weapon?
