What do we know of Jim Geary, the JG in the oval on so many of our Barrels. Did he go with Remington and is it Sr. or Jr who made the barrels?

There is an employee section in TPS that is good and talks about him.

I have looked through Johnson and TPS, and Geary is prominently mentioned in several places, and we all know that the JG with the circle was his mark,  but there is essentially no detail about the man or his son. Unusual given the amount of detail about other people in TPS.

Geary is an old Scottish surname, so next time you tip of glass of Scotch, to JG.

And the National Flower of Scotland is the thistle.

It is my opinion that the latest Parker forend tip which resembles the shape of the thistle head or blossom, introduced in the mid-1880's, was the result of Parker employees of Scottish decent or immigrants who developed the design.

Would not surprise me if that was true.
