My two friends from Duluth, MN are headed to Friendsville, PA for the Great Northeastern Side by Side Championship. One of us won the RBL 20 gauge last year and we hope to bring another one back to Minnesota this year. Ernie sets a wonderful course in an abandoned quary to it's greatest potential by using the elevation changes to offer great target presentations that will challenge the shooter.
Ernie utilizes change of speed and the opitcal illusion created by changes in elavation to deceive the shooter rather than rely on speed and distance to challange the shooter. The vendors will include Steve Barnett Fine Guns, Classic Upland Supply and RST Shotshells. This shoot has been a real success the last two years that I have attended and I don't expect anything less this year. I think that three men from Minnesota making the long trip is a testimony to the quality of this shoot. See you there!

No manipulation of speed, elevation, air density or illusion of topography can fool us - if it flies, it dies!

PS Mike - will you be bringing any more of that fine home made white lightning you shared with us last year? My brother still talks about it - said he hadn't had anything that good since his army buddy who worked the iron foundry in Manitowoc WI came home with him on leave and stashed a fifth of it in his "town clothes" duffle bag!

Having just driven through Binghamton NY on our way back from Ohio last weekend I can say route 17 Eastbound to Vestal and Binghamton is free of construction but Westbound for about twenty-five miles before Binghamton there is construction with a lane shift down to single lane traffic. Unfortunately rte 88 Westbound to Binghamton is the only way to get there unless you come in from CT along rte 84 then up 17 to Binghamton (which I can not remark on).

Eastbound, before Binghamton rte 17 is two lanes East and two lanes West. From Middletown West to Binghamton - I don't know - haven't been on that stretch.

If at all possible, reach Bingo from the north or south via I-81 avoiding 17 eastbound, then jog westbound from Bingo to NY 26 south out of Vestal and follow Ernie's route from there.

Correction - per Dean's post, avoid 17 WESTBOUND into Bingo, then take my suggested route.

Kevin,
My plan was to make some of my own this past fall. However, it wasn't able to pull together all the equipment. I will try to get some from the Iron Range and bring it.
I am glad you guys liked it!
I will see you there.
Mike

A copy of the little map from the website is a valuable addition to a travel kit, as the route my GPS chose last fall included a dirt road with a bridge out. I will take a guess that it is still out.
