Just a quick note to let anyone who shoots bismuth know that Eley have altered there shot. as i understand they have increased the tin content. i dont have to any details yet but the gentlemen at Eley seem very confident that what they have come up with will be a big improvement. like i said i still dont have details as to price or how well it will perform. i have been told that the shot and cartidges will be available some time during the summer, shot will be made available for home loading.

I'll keep my eyes open for the loose shot. Give us an update if you see it first.

Adding tin? I've talked to some folks from over your way that had tried the all tin type non-toxic shot and said it was the worst. Maybe they're trying to make it cheaper to produce. I was never a huge fan of bismuth in the first place, hopefully this doesn't make it worse.
Nobody is importing the Eley bismuth shells into the US at the moment. And you can't buy any loose bismuth shot from Bismax the company that's making the shells here. I'm sure this will change eventually.
I actually just had an email from a guy who's making bismuth shot and selling it by the pound. At $21 per pound though, it seems pretty pricey.

youre right about the tin shot cartridges they were rubbish. however bismuth is in my opinion the best non toxic option. i get really good results/patterns out to 50-60yd In the 8. I shoot it in everytrhing from .410 to 8 bore.
A lot of it comes down to confidence and personal choice, and of course youre choice of gun. It seems everyone you talk to has a different opinion on there gun/cartridge performance.
I dont buy factory loaded shells i load my own for all gauges. This is time consuming but the results speak for themselves.
I am of to the isle of man in a couple of weeks for the tt races. its a beautiful place but devoid of good wildfowling. I suppose you cant have everything.
